Chapter 84. The holidays are here.

It was Friday and the students had the time off between classes. Snape was walking around the cold corridors, his cloak swishing behind him, leaving a slight breeze in his wake. Snape scanned the hallways for Harry and his friends and for Quirrel, he did not trust Quirrel alone for any amount of time, he knew the man was after the stone and he would do all he could to stop him from reaching it.

Snape saw outside that a few students were huddled into small groups talking and shivering in the cold. Snape headed out to see Harry with Hermione and Ron standing together in the cold, as he limped down the grassy yard he noticed the three suddenly bunch up together. Now why are they cuddling up like that? They have that fire in a jar, which undoubtedly is Granger’s doing, but what are they hiding from me? Snape veered off to speak with them. If I know Harry he’s doing something he doesn’t want found out, just like his father always did. Snape thought bitterly about James and the things he and his mates had gotten up to while in school here.

“What’s that you’ve got there, Potter?” Snape was quite disappointed it was only a book Harry was showing him.

Oh well might as well play my part and make him really mad. Snape thought with a twisted smile.

“Library books are not to be taken outside the school,” Snape put his hand out to Harry giving him a hard look. “Give it to me Potter. Five points from Gryffindor.”

Snape turned and limped off a small smile on his face. I wonder what Li, would say about me using the same words that idiot teacher Binn used on us when he caught us with a book outside of the school, she’d probably smack me upside the head for it.

Snape grinned at the memory of the way they had criticized Binn for it, he was sure Harry and his pals were now criticizing him for the same thing.

He wandered around outside for a while before he went back inside to have dinner. He saw the Quirrel was sitting at the table looking back and forth between the teachers.

He sat beside him deliberately to help the man feel more uneasy.

“So how is your day going, Quirrel?” He asked in his silky dark voice. He grinned pleased seeing the other man shiver turning his head partially toward him.

“Fffffine..jjjust-ffffine- Ssseveerrrus.” He replied his turban shaking very hard on top of his head.

“How very nice, for you.” Severus grinned wickedly at him, a dark gleam in his eyes.

Quirrel shivered again and looked to his other side.

“We must go get a drink together at the Three Brooksticks.” Severus told him softly. “I was going with a few others, you should really join us.”
“I… dodododon’t know… Vammpvammmpvampires you know.”
