Chapter 150. The New Headmaster.

Snape walked into the school through the front doors, the teachers would all be returning back to the school from their summer break. Snape took in a large breath of air as he walked into the Great Hall. He watched as the other teachers looked at him with a coldness he had never wanted to see from them.

“Here goes nothing,” Snape whispered as he walked over to the teachers’ table.

“Hello, I am sure that you know of my appointment as headmaster,” Snape said in a soft even tone, he didn’t want them to think he was rubbing it in their faces as they looked at him.

“Of course we heard, other wise we’d be alerting the Magical Law Enforcement.”

“Touché” Snape said with a small smile, he did enjoy McGonagall’s wit, she only let it show at times but it was very entertaining.

“I shall be in the headmaster’s office if anyone needs me.” Snape walked off wondering if any of them were going to hex him from behind, he figured they wouldn’t since they would want to keep the students safe here.

“Severus, when are the Carrows expected to come here?” Professor Sprout asked, she sounded very worried.

“I do not believe they will be here until the first, which is in three days.”

Sprout nodded in understanding.

“Do we have the welcoming feast?”

Snape looked at her surprised, “Of course, it is after all the start of a new school year,” Snape left as they looked surprised.

Snape went to his office he looked at the papers on it with the names of Muggle born students who were to go to school here, if their parents desired it.

“Sir, what about their; having no magical family member?” Snape asked softly. Dumbledore smiled at him.

“I had thought of that, all you need is to have Slughorn pick them up and help them buy their things and get onto the train. Also give them papers that say they have magical family, it will be enough to make them happy enough to think they are pureblood.”

“That sounds fine, I will take half of these and he can take the other half, we shall get this done in no time at all.” Snape smiled at Dumbledore.

Snape grinned at him as he started to look through the papers. He did see a name and village that was very familiar to him. Amanda Cranner, of Godric Hollow the place; where he met her and her little brother and sister.

Snape was still in his office as he continued to look through the large stack of letters that were to be hand delivered to the young witches and wizards who had been born to Muggles. Snape looked through the list once more he had divided them up between the two of them as Dumbledore smiled down at him proudly.

“I am proud to see you are inviting the young witches and wizards of Muggle parents.” Dumbledore said softly.

“There is no reason to exclude them just because they are born to Muggles, remember how many have passed through this school; who have been excellent witches.”

“Like Miss Evans,” said Dumbledore with a knowing smile.

Snape looked at him, a small smile tugging at his lips, “She was indeed an extraordinary witch, and who knows who might come here and show their own brilliance at magic. I shall be careful to warn the parents to be sure to have their children not mention their parentage at school, at least not until the Dark Lord has fallen.”

Dumbledore looked pleased as a soft laughter came from the side; the two looked over at Phineas, who was as always looking bored.

“You have ruined a great Slytherin Dumbledore, he could have been such a great contribution to the school, but you have encouraged him to invite Muggles into the school.” Phineas shook his head as though he was shamed.
