Snape went to his office, as he walked inside he was surprised to see, Professor McGonagall standing there talking with Dumbledore.

She turned at the sound of the door opening with a start.

“Thank you Professor, I shall talk with you later,” McGonagall walked toward the door with a nod to Snape.

“Headmaster,” McGonagall said stiffly as she walked out the door and down the stairs.

Snape watched her go, he felt very sadden that a teacher he had always liked and had gotten along with was so cold to him now. Snape walked over to the desk.

“She does not seem pleased.”

“No she isn’t pleased at all.” Dumbledore told him, “It seems she wanted to know what would ever possess me to trust you, a known Death Eater. Because according to her Potter had said I trusted you because you were sorry to see James killed.”

Snape smiled at him, as Dumbledore continued to speak.

“Apparently they did not seem incline to believe you would feel remorse over his death. I did not tell her that it was Lily’s death you felt remorse over. I just told her I trusted you then and I still trust you now.”

“I am sure she did not care for that answer,”

“Strangely enough she didn’t seem to find it acceptable.”

Snape chuckled softly as he sat at the desk and begun working there. Little Lily hopped over to climb up his leg and make her way to his shoulder sitting there happily chirping away.

While Snape was working at the desk, Phineas suddenly looked alert.

“I believe I am being called away, I hear a girl’s voice,” Phineas looked over at Snape and Dumbledore’s portrait. “I shall report to you what they say and where they are,” He left his picture disappearing past the frame.

Dumbledore and Snape watched for his return.

“Do you think they will tell him much?”

“I do not believe so. I am going to assume they want information on you,”

“Why am, I not surprised,” Snape grinned at Dumbledore as Phineas finally returned with a very angry look on his face.
