Chapter 11. Exams are coming.
The weeks that followed the Hogsmeade trip were slipping by as fast as someone slipping on a banana peel. It seemed Halloween, was here in a blink of an eye. Lily chuckled looking at all the live bats swooping around the Great Hall and the corridors. It seems that the teachers had let loose many bugs for the bats to enjoy and for the student body to learn something about these creatures. Hagrid had placed a dozen large jack-o-lanterns in the Great Hall with large candles burning inside them. Unfortunately several bugs attracted to the light swarmed inside with bats going in after them. They all met with an untimely death. Dumbledore told Hagrid that next Halloween to use small candles. Hagrid also had smaller pumpkin with bows on top of them. There were also bags to collect candy in them if you were able to convince a teacher of letting you have some or were sneaky enough to get it without getting caught and losing your bags contents. It was a great challenge for them all.
Lily had walked into Binns History of Magic class confident that she could get his loot. She watched him while walking inside. She waved her wand so his bag zoomed over to her. She hurriedly empty it then refilled it with rocks and placed it back at his desk while he was busy writing on the blackboard. She sat down smugly. No one had noticed since they were all still talking happily to each other and comparing their bags contents.
Binns turned around and called them all to order.
“Now class we shall be discussing giant wars today.”
A blonde Ravenclaw girl held up her hand. “Sir, could I please have one of your candies?”
Everyone knew she was a favorite student of his.
“Of course my dear, I have a bag full right here.” He waved his wand at his bag to send a piece to her. Everyone was glaring at the girl for being a favorite and getting candy for just asking for it.
It came as a shock when a rock flew at her hitting her square in the nose causing her nose to bleed heavily.
Several had a hard time containing their laughter.
Binns stood looking wrong footed trying to figure out where all his candy had gone too. Lily said nothing just trying to give a look of concern. When class was out with the girl leaving early for the hospital wing they others went right to talking about the rock and where had his candy gone since it left them without having a chance to get some from him.
Lily told no one as she went to class early and removed all the candy the teachers had in their bags to be replaced with rocks of different sizes. Most had figured the marauders were the ones to do it. They laughed over this and said they wish they had done it. Lily would also go to other classes to see if the teachers were there and take their candies as well. Her bag was quite full even with the expansion spell on it.
Between classes Lily was walking with Severus through the halls to the next class.
“I don’t know why those four are claiming it’s not them. I already saw them charming the astronomy teacher into giving them a large amount of candy.”
“Sev, maybe they aren’t doing it have you thought of that?” she looked at him with her soulful green eyes.
“Don’t be naive Lily of course its, them who else is so…..”
“Bold.” She asked innocently
“Not the word I’d use for them, but for someone else they would have to be bold to take all the teachers candy and not get caught.”
Lily laughed taking his hand. “Last class before dinner.”
“yes transfiguration is a good class to end with.” They took seats near the front. When Severus was not looking at her she waved her wand to McGonagall’s desk bringing the bag of candy to her. She quickly transferred it to her bag then sent it back with one piece left in it.
