Chapter 138

The students had all returned to school through the fireplace’s in their head of houses offices, using Floo powder. Snape was there to greet them as his house students came bustling through the fireplace to leave ash and soot all over the floor.

“Don’t get ash all over the place, hurry onto the common room,” Snape said in a dull dead pan voice each time a students came crashing in through the fireplace.

Snape had hardly seen Draco, he was busy doing something he had yet to entrust Snape to know about. Snape was glad for the New Year and had been busy reporting to Voldermort and Dumbledore, while meeting for drinks with Narcissa at the Hogshead or the Three Broomsticks. He was feeling a tad tired and stressed going back and forth and was very glad when he was able to retire each night to his room to sleep with Little Lily curled up beside him. Winky would leave very happy after playing with the Pygmy Puff.

It was the next day after Dumbledore had returned from another of his little jaunts out from the school and had been in his office with Harry. Snape now knew what the meetings were all about, he was very happy that Dumbledore had confided in him the truth of what they were doing and why but it did not make him feel any better, he was the one who would have to tell Harry that he would have to die.

Snape was walking down the hallway, when a blonde girl stepped in beside him a small faint smile on her dreamy face.

“Hello Professor, I was wondering if I might give a treat to your pet, Little Lily?”

Snape looked at her surprised, “I am sure she would enjoy that, you can go to the kitchens and ask Winky to bring her to my office for you.” Snape smiled at her, as she looked up at him quizzically. “I have asked Winky to watch over her when I am busy,” Snape informed her as dawning comprehension replaced her quizzical look.

“Oh I see, I do not blame you for asking an house elf they are remarkably helpful and loyal and will do so much to keep their charges safe from harm, yes it was indeed a wise decision,”

Snape smiled at her as he reached the entrance for Dumbledore’s office. “I’m glad you approve, now off with you, I wouldn’t want someone to think I turned soft.” Snape told her as she laughed merrily.

“I understand sir; I too shall keep my tongue as a house elf does.” Luna skipped off toward the stairs and he knew the kitchen.

Snape chuckled as he gave the password to the gargoyle. “Chocolate frogs,”

Snape rode the stairs up to Dumbledore’s office, where he knocked softly on the door.

“Enter,”

Snape walked in to see Dumbledore feeding Fawkes, his beautiful phoenix.

“Severus, good to see you, I had quite an interesting night, with Harry, he was most anxious to tell me all about your conversation with Draco in the classroom,”

Snape smiled ruefully, “I am not surprised that Potter had gone searching for us to listen in, he must have had his Invisibility cloak with him.” Snape sat straight back in the chair he always occupied.

“I had a feeling he might when I had taken Draco from the room, but I had no real desire to search for him after Draco stormed off. As we had discussed Draco is less then willing to confide in me. I know he has Crabbe and Goyle helping him as look outs but those two are not as reliable as others may be.”

“What about Miss Parkinson, Draco has always seemed fond of her, and she is quite fond of Draco as you had told me before,”

Snape chuckled again as he remembered the meeting he had with Pansy and her whole life ambition and plan was to marry Draco.
