Alfred was still out of town for the next few days. He had left a life time supply of cooked food in the refrigerator for the children and his Master. He was having a blast.
Batman and Joker went up on the roof as the two boys were cuddling, waiting for the new year to arrive. The couple looked at each other, eyes filled with love. Joker moved closer to Batman, arms wrapped around the other's. The Dark Knight pulled away, making the clown whimper. He flipped out his phone, checking the time.
"Twelve-fifty-five. I got time," he said softly. He looked at Joker and held his hands gently, smiling as he leaned closer.
"Oh, Batsy. These few months sure have been interesting, hmm?" Joker asked, laughing lowley.
Batman nodded and kissed the clown's right hand, smiling softly, "very interesting, J-bird."
The children were watching from afar, wondering what Robin's parents were doing. Garfield kissed the freckled face boy's cheek, removing his goggles a little. He smiled as he gave the sidekick his pair of glasses, adjusting them slightly. Robin giggled and hugged the green boy and held him to his chest as they watch his parents curiously.
Batman cupped Joker's cheeks, blushing slightly. A small, mini box was in his pocket. Inside it held a gorgeous emerald ring. He was going to pop in the question after all these years.
It was twelve-fifty-eight, almost time for midnight. The hero took this opportunity to hold the villain's hand, smiling as he went down on one knee. The children gasped excitedly, flailing and fanboying like everyone else that was/is a Batman and Joker shipper.
The Dark Knight looked up, a sly smile in his blue, illuminating eyes as he looked into Joker's acid green that had tears about to fall out in the corners of his eyes. Batman took in a big sigh, clearing his throat as he began to speak.
"Joker, he have been together for about three months, now. We have knowb each other for many years. Seventy-nine, to be exact. You're the love of my life, and I could not ask for anyone other than you and you alone. Robin, Garfield, Alfred and I love and care about you very much. And, I believe you do, too. I have a very big, life changing, and dangerous question for you, J-bird."
Joker teared up, nodding happily. He put his free hand on Batman's cheek, stroking it gently. "G-go ahead, my Dark Knight."
Batman nodded and smiled, winking at the clown. He then asked, "Joker, will you marry me-"
Before he could finish, a loud explosion went off, dangerously close by Wayne Manor. Batman growled as he rant over the children, the clown by his side. "What the heck happened?!"
Jokee shrugged and hugged the caped crusader's arm. He nuzzled it gently and purred. "Yes."
The hero's eyes widened, blinking rapidly. He turned to his lover and teared up slightly. "Thank you." Batman then got a call from the commissioner, listening closely. He did not like what he was hearing. A familiar man has returned.
