Batman sighed as he and Alfred were about to have, yet another, chat. This time, the butler has invited the clown to talk about Barbra Gordon. It was for the best to discus the issue at hand than to bottle it up inside and keep it away from everyone else. That was not how the older male was taught. There were three tea cakes for Batman, Joker, and himself. A set of silverware sat nicely beside them. Three cups of tea were beside the plates, making the appearance feel almost British-like. Of course, the Dark Knight knew that Alfred was British. He lived in the United Kingdom for half of his life. It must have been nice to live there.
Joker went downstairs and saw Batman look up at him. He bit his lip nervously with his sharp teeth, making his bottom lip bleed slightly. Walking down the steps at a very slow pace, he made it to the kitchen and whimpered as Alfred smiled at him.
"Welcome, Mister Joker. Please, have a seat," Alfred said with a soft, gentle smile. The clown sat down two seats away from the Dark Knight. The butler raised an eyebrow at this, concern filling in his mind. He watched as Joker's hands folded on the table, his kryptonite ring was off of his index finger. Alfred took note of this and simply nodded.
"I am sure you two know what this is about. So, I would like it if you both talked about the situation we had a few hours ago. Master Batman, care to go first?"Batman nodded and looked down at his lap. He then looked at Joker, anxiety filling his mind. This could go two ways: excellent or horrid. The Dark Knight hoped for the excellent side of things.
"Barbra kissed me twice: once during the Crystal Ball, and the other was when I was about to leave the town hall. Both times, I felt guilty and horrible. I know I should have pulled away, but I was scared for you, Joker, during the first kiss. I didn't know what to do. And now, the second time, I didn't kiss back. The first time, I did. But, as for the second time, I didn't. I was thinking about you, Joker. I felt ashamed of myself. I don't expect you to forgive me. If anything, I expect you to break up with me. Which, we're heading closer and closer to the edge of segregation. And, I don't want that. But, if you want that, I'm not stopping you."Joker's jaw dropped slightly as he heard the Dark Knight speak. He felt ashamed in himself, which surprised the pale man. Of course, he was. The Dark Knight kissed another person who was not his beloved clown. He looked at Alfred as he gestured for him to speak. Joker nodded and looked at Batman in his beautiful blue, illuminating eyes that made his heart pound against his ribcage. He was so nervous to speak.
"When you kissed Barbra, I got very angry, as you know. So angry, in fact, that my intention was to throw her into the ocean in that stupid, uncomfortable armchair. But, I didn't. I didn't because I don't kill anyone, and you, of all people, should know that. But anyways, I got angry after those two times and I thought of a plan to get rid of her. And, that was by throwing her into this aquarium for a year!""My word," Alfred said, shaking his head as he chuckled lowely. He knew that Joker had an outrageous perpose for his plan. It was funny to the butler. Alfred grabbed his cup of tea and sipped it, looking at the two.
"Now, how do you two feel about each other after all of that happened? Better yet, do you two still wish to marry each other."Batman nodded, "of course! I mean, I didn't propose to him for nothing." He looked at Joker and waited for him to speak his piece.
Joker nodded and cleared his throat, looking at Batman nervously. It was such a sudden question. He didn't know how to answer. But then, he did.
"I would love to marry Batman. However, with miss Gordon on all of our cases, I do not know if I should accept it just yet. I would love to be his husband, but with Barbra in the way, I don't know if I should."Batman was about to open his mouth, but quickly shut it. He wanted to talk more, but what more was there to say?
"If you feel that way, then we don't have to do something you don't want. I understand."
The Dark Knight got up from his seat and began to walk into the living room. He felt so miserable about what he had done. He should have been in control, but was not. Batman began to tear up in pain as he remembered the day he confessed his hatred to the Joker. Oh!- how happy he was back then. And now, he's worried that the Dark Knight will love another, more 'attractive' mate.Alfred sipped more of his tea and hummed at the flavors. He put down the tea cup and glanced at Joker, wondering what he must be thinking. Of course, he already knew that he was upset and worried about the man in black. It was all over his face.
"If I were you, I would go to him and talk a little bit more. I know Master Bruce better than anyone. He would not cheat or harm you in any way, shape, or form. If anything, it is quite the opposite. Of course, what he had done was horrible. But, if you can try and forget Scarecrow, you can forget this even happened."Joker nodded as he looked into his teacup, starring at the brown-ish, gold liquids. Perhaps, the butler was correct. It was time to move on.
