Batman and Superman were about to murder the Scarecrow within several milliseconds. How dare the doll-like man attempt to kidnap his precious clown?! He was certainly going to pay for this act.

They moved down towards where the clown was and Batman grabbed him, gripping onto his hand tightly. The caped crusader gave a small, weak wink to his beloved to make him blush. Which, he did. Joker giggled and intertwined his hands with the other's, holding onto him tightly. Batman smirked softly as he held onto Joker. He began to get familiar vibes from before when they saved the city together. The Dark Knight remembered how happy the Joker was. It made his heart flutter slightly.

Joker looked into Batman's eyes and sighed softly. Suddenly, something grabbed onto his leg, tugging at it harshly. The clown screamed in fear, kicking whoever or whatever it was off of him. Batman glanced over and growled. He watched as Joker gripped at Batman's arms. He pulled out his pepper spray and sprayed it at the thing. It didn't work. It only gave a wicked and familiar laugh in response.

They continued to go upwards, the figure still on Joker's leg. Joker was squirming more than he should have. Superman was almost at the top where the hole was still open. A sigh of relief escaped his lips at this. He went faster, but was stopped by the Dark Knight. He looked at him and tilted his head.

"Scarecrow is on Joker's leg!" He exclaimed loudly, fear clearly showing in his voice.

Superman glanced at the clown's leg and gasped as he tried to use his laser eyes on it. Scarecrow only dodged it. He bit his lip, wondering what he should do.
"Just hang on tightly!"

Batman nodded and so did the clown. Suddenly, a loud scream was heard as the doll-like man fell off of Joker's leg. The only thing that was on it was a syringe that was clearly injected into the chubby man's leg. The caped crusader saw this as they made it through the hole. Superman dropped Batman and Joker down onto the ground slowly and carefully. The Dark Knight went to Joker's side and pulled out the syringe quickly. Luckily, only have of the green-ish, yellow mixture was used. Joker should be fine. At least, that was what he hoped.

Superman walked up to the, now coughing, Clown Prince of Crime and sat beside Batman. The clown looked as if he were in absolute pain and misery. Everytime Batman touched him, Joker would flinch in response. Something was not right.

"J-bird? Can you hear me?" Batman asked softly as he put Joker's head onto his lap carefully. Whatever was in that mixture must have harmed the beloved clown. He looked into Joker's acid green eyes and teared up at the sight.

"He-he was going to-to hurt you," Joker choked out weakily. He looked up at the Dark Knight's eyes and felt himself slowly fade away. "I didn't want him to hurt you."

Batman nodded slowly and cupped the clown's cheeks, carressing each one with his tumbs gently. He could hear something come out of the hole in deep gasps, but didn't care. Clearly, Superman did as he went to investigate.

The caped crusader then said in a sad tone, "but, I didn't want him to hurt you. Why do you think I came back for you? Do you think that I don't care?!"

"N-not necessarily," Joker said honestly. "I feel like I'm not good enough for y-you! Think about it; I'm a villain and-and you're-you're a superhero. I can't-"

"Shut up," Batman said as he picked up the weakend clown bridal-like. "You are my fiance. I love you, Alfred, and Robin very, very much. Don't you ever forget that!"

Then, it hit him in the back of his neck. Scarecrow injected a syringe into Batman's neck. The caped crusader gave a painful grunt as Joker pulled out the needle quickly, tossing it the empty syringe at the Scarecrow. Superman gasped and pulled Scarecrow away from the sweet couple and threw him back into the hole. When he did, the hole sealed up once and for all. He sighed softly and gasped as the Dark Knight fell to his knees. Joker was dropped during this and groaned in pain. He gasped and ran up to the weakend hero, tears forming in his eyes as he fell backwards.

Superman caught the caped crusader before he fell backwards. Worry flooded throughout the tight wearing superhero's body. What was going to happen to Batman and Joker? He looked at the clown, who gave a small nod.

"I'll be okay," Joker said. "I was injected witht that thingy halfway. I should be okay. But, Brucey..." He squealed as Superman threw him over his back and began to fly towards Wayne Manor at full speed.
Then, the most horrible thing happened that the clown did not want to happen to his beloved fiance.

His heartbeat stopped.
