Garfield walked inside Dick's room slowly and saw that the freckled face boy was laying on his left side, covered up in his blanket, and sobbing hard. The green boy could hear the other call out for his beloved Padre. Walking over to the clothes drawer, Garfield placed the plate ontop of it, including the handkerchief and fork, to walk over to the crying boy. He sat next to him and felt his heart break when Dick rised up a little and called out for his Padre in a questionable tone. The green boy scooted closer to Dick and whimpered softly. He winced a little in surprise when he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist securely.
"I thought-I thought you were Padre," Dick said softly. "I'm sorry."
Garfield hugged Dick tightly and restrained himself from crying. He had to comfort and support his boyfriend right now. He felt the slightly older boy's tears fall onto his shirt, making it slightly drenched. A sniffle, followed by a small hick, was heard.
Garfield sighed softly and continued to let Dick cry. He knew that the freckled face boy was upset over his father's condition. He knew that Dick was sad that he couldn't spend his birthday with his father. He knew how that felt; to be fatherless for many years, and so on.
"He'll get better, Dick," the green boy said as he began to tear up. A lump formed in the middle of his throat as he remembered his first birthday without his parents. It hurt him so much. "Mister Wayne just needs some time to heal."
"But Garfield, it's been so long! I want him here now. I'm scared that I'm going to lose him, too!" Dick exclaimed as he burst into tears, burrying his face into Garfield's chest. "I-I don't want him to die!"
"He won't, dear," Garfield cooed softly as he kissed the side of Dick's head gently. He sighed softly. "He will get better. I know he will."
Dick whimpered softly and gripped onto Garfield's hands tightly. He backed away a little and sighed shakily. He looked into the green boy's dark violet eyes and felt happiness wash over himself. Moving a little closer, the sidekick kissed Garfield's lips gently and pulled back. He always loved to see the green boy's confused expression after a random kiss.
After a moment of silence, Garfield looked at the plate and smiled softly at the freckled face boy. He got up from the bed and let his feet touch the ground. Walking slowly to the clothes drawer and picked up the plate with the handkerchief and fork. He walked over to the sidekick and gave him the plate.
"Mister Joker and Alfred taught me how to make this desert. I knew that you're very sad, so I made you this."
Dick blinked rapidly and took the plate. He starred at the fancy desert in awe. He could not believe that the green boy would make him such a thing.
"You made this for me?"
"Yup!" Garfield said cheerfully, followed by a simple nod. "I know that triple chocolate cake is your favourite, so I made you just that. I hope you-"
Placing down the cake on his bed stand, Dick got up and slammed his lips onto the green boy's and hugged him tightly. They both fell on the floor and began to fall into a fit of laughter.
"You shouldn't have made this, darling."
"But I wanted to!"
"I know you did, Beasty," Dick cooed softly as he kissed Garfield's neck gently. "You're such a sweetheart."
The green boy made a small squeak as he felt the other's lips on his flesh. He hummed softly and hugged Dick's waist gently and giggled.
"Beasty, I like that!"
When they got up from the floor, Dick and Garfield sat back onto the bed and shared the cake together. Of course, the green boy denied it at first, but Dick thought that sharing was caring. And so, they both took a bite out of the cake and hummed heavenly. Garfield was so, very happy when Dick said that the desert was amazing. It made his heart flutter.
Suddenly, when the two finished the desert, the door opened with the clown and butler coming into the room. They both had worried expressions.
"M-master Dick and Gar-Garfield?" Alfred studdered a little. "Please come with us. It's about Dick's father."
