The sun rised up, signifying that it was morning. The Joker groaned as he saw the bits of light peering into Bruce's bedroom. He slowly got up from the soft, warm spot he was in and yawned. The clown laid back down, but then, sprung back up again in panic. He gasped as he realised that he was in Bruce Wayne's master bedroom. He then remembered the events that had happened the following day. Those sweet words that Batman had said. He was so reassuring to the Clown Prince of Crime. Although, he could not understand why. Of course, the clown knew that Batman was his enemy, and now he knew that he cared about Joker's well-being.
"If there's no Joker," he mumbled softly to himself. "There is no Batman." He looked at the blanket and hugged it gently. Joker was a bit sad, still. Scarecrow had hurt him hard; harder than anyone else has. He teared up slightly, but there was no reason to cry. He hugged the blanket closer to his chest and sighed shakily.
"He cares about you, Jack," he said softly to himself. "You don't know why he does, but, he does."Joker looked at his hands and began to tremble. The thoughts of Scarecrow filled up his mind. What if he wasn't able to reach for the remote in time? Would Batman and Robin be gassed and, just like the rest of the city, demolished? He trembled at the thought of loosing his Batman. What would have happen if he died along with the city?
What would the Clown Prince of Crime do then? His thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on the door. Joker tilted his head and laid back down in a fit of panic. He laid on his left side, away from the door and shut his eyes while trembling slightly. The clown could hear quiet footsteps heading towards the king-sized bed. He heard a soft sigh coming from the intruder. It kind of sounded like one the Dark Knight's soft sighs, but slightly deeper. He trembled as he got unthinkable thoughts.
He thought to himself, What if it's the Scarecrow!? He began to breath heavily into the blanket, his quick, hot breathes reflecting back to the clown as he breathed into the soft material. If it was indeed the Scarecrow himself, how on Earth did he find the Joker? He would have thought that he would be spared from the walking doll's wrath. He supposed not.
Suddenly, the intruder began to lace their fingers into the Joker's hair, earning a purr from the clown. The Joker relaxed slightly as they rubbed behind his ears, earning a louder purr. A chuckle was heard. This was definitely Batsy. Joker turned around slowly and smiled softly.
"Oh, it's only you," the clown said softly with relief as he saw the familiar blue illuminating eyes met with his acid green.
Batman chuckled softly, "of course. Who else would I be?" He sat next to his greatest enemy and licked his lips. "Did you sleep okay?"
Joker slightly nodded, his smile turning into a frown. Batman tilted his head a little. Joker looked up at the Dark Knight and tried to smile. "I slept wonderfully. I owe you so much, Batsy."
Batman smiled softly and hummed as he laid down on the mattres. He turned his head towards his nemesis. "You don't have to owe me anything. Maybe a vacation for a year."
This made the Joker giggle softly, "we both know that won't happen for a very long time!"
The Dark Knight nodded at this. It was very true. Neither of them had a real break in a long time. He looked at Joker and sighed softly. He could sense that his nemesis' smile was, somewhat, if a fake.
"Are you sure that you're okay? You seemed frightened when I came in.""Yup! Better than ever!" He replied with a soft smile.
"Positive?"
"Positive!"
Batman placed a finger on his lips and shook his head as he sat up. "You're lying," he said flatly. "I can tell."
"Is it because you're Batman?"
