The air was cool as night had fallen at last, the sun going down and was replaced with the moon. It glistened against the ground and several areas of the city with grace and beauty.
As the hero, sidekick, villain, and butler ate their mushroom and chicken soup, an unexpect visitor was hovering outside of Wayne Manor, eager to speak with the man in black. He sighed, not knowing what else to say other than a simple apology. Would he forgive the man in tights and move on? Or did this mean war?
Suddenly, the Dark Knight and the
clown went outside after their meal, admiring the scenery. They went out to the backyard and sat on a small patch of grass, looking up at the stars. The man in black smiled at the clown, his face grew warm as they sat down onto the cool grass. The male in tights tilted his head, wondering why pale man had saved the other's life earlier. It was very odd that the villain would save the superhero. It was almost unheard of. They, normally, did not care for one another. So, why do they do now? Did the battle change their lives?
Joker laid down on Batman's chest, his eyes fluttered closed as he gave a small yawn, making the other chuckle. The Dark Knight wrapped his arms around the clown's waist, pulling him up onto his lap. Joker gave a small squeak as his rear end was touched. Batman smirked and kissed his face gently, the clown's face burning like a lit candle. Looking up at the sky and back down at the clown, the Dark Knight smiled happily, wondering how he got such a wonderful life after many years of being stubborn and alone like an edgy emo. His life had changed so quickly over the past few days. He adopted Robin, told the Joker his true feelings, made friends with the commissioner and listened to his butler after, what seemed to be, a century. It was astonishing to realize that the man in black had done so much in such little time. It was amazing.
Suddenly, a loud swoosh-like sound was heard in the distance, startling the poor clown. The Dark Knight's eyes widened and looked around, looking for whoever made that unexpected sound. Joker then saw a familiar sollute hovering in the sky, heading towards the couple slowly. He growled, his eyes narrowed downwards as the man in black recognized who it was. The clown folded his arms and got up, sitting behind the Dark Knight.
Superman then landed onto the ground, his face had the word 'worry' all over it. It made the caped crusader a little uncomfortable, especially how close he was to the other. After a moment of silence, Batman finally spoke up, sending a death glare at the man in blue.
"What do you want, Clark?" He asked in a flat, angry tone.
Superman bit his lip, looking down at the ground for a moment. He then looked up, his eyes furrowed as he began to get nervous. He looked at the clown who was behind the caped crusader, his back touched the other's.
"I'm sorry for fighting you. I was being foolish. I shouldn't have hurt you and the Joker. I didn't think he would do something like that."
"You didn't think that I wouldn't have saved Batsy?" Joker asked as he rolled his eyes. "Robin would have done the same thing! If I weren't there, he would have-"
"I know," Superman said, interupting the other. "And I am very sorry. I didn't expect you to do that. All that I ask is for your forgiveness. I just want us to be friends again."
Batman rolled his eyes and looked at the clown and then the tight-wearing hero. He then said, "since when were we ever friends? If you think that we can be friends just because our mothers have the same name, you're wrong."
Superman whimpered, looking at the Dark Knight with pleading eyes. "Please. I know what I did was wrong, but we can move past this, right? I can give you respect and recognition. Besides, I am a good friend."
Joker growled and turned around, facing Superman with anger in his acid green eyes. He glared at him and shook his head. "Look, I might be a bad guy that has a bunch of bad guy villains and such. But, I know how to treat them! I don't throw them away like garbage. If I hurt them, I earn back their respect by not forcing them to forgive me for what I do. Even though one specific villain hasn't forgiven me and wants me dead, it doesn't matter!"
Batman then put a hand on the clown's shoulder, trying to calm him down. "Okay, that's enough."
"No!" Joker shouted, biting his lip. "You never hang out with Batsy! You forget that he even exists! I might be a bad guy, but at least I don't forget them unlike you! You never invited Batsy to the Justice League celebration, you never speak to him, and when you do, you beat him up for no reason!"
"Joker, that's enou-"
"I'm sick and tired of people like you who treat fellow superheros like trash! You shouldn't even be a superhero! If you were one, you wouldn't have tried and killed Batsy! You wouldn't have tried to kill me! You're not a hero. You're a villain!"
Superman and Batman gasped dramatically, not expecting the Joker, of all people, to say something like that. But it was true. If the tight-wearing was a hero, he wouldn't have done something like that. He was almost as bad as another certain anti-hero.
Batman then spoke up, glaring at the other. He got up from his spot, face-to-face with the other. "Joker is right. If you were a superhero, you wouldn't have done that. And if you did care about me, you wouldn't ignore me like you do with the Greenlatern. So, I don't forgive you. And if I were you, I would leave us alone if you don't want Joker to attack you."
Superman looked at the caped crusader with a sad expression. He felt so terrible. He then sighed and began to fly back to the Fortress of Solitude, leaving the Joker and Batman alone.
The clown looked at the Dark Knight, nuzzling his cheek against his. He could tell that the man in black was angry due to the fact that he was trembling. Joker sighed and kissed his cheek, rubbing his arms gently.
"It's going to be okay, Bat-baby. Just relax, okay?"
Batman nodded, his muscles began to lose their tension as he sat back down onto the grass as he saw the clown crawl onto his chest. He sighed, running his hand through the clown's soft locks gently and smiled.
"Thank you, Joker."
"For what?" The clown asked, looking up at the caped crusader with drowzy eyes.
"For confronting him. You didn't have to do that, you know. I could have handled it."
"I know, but, I got very angry at him. He shouldn't do that to you, Batsy! That's just cruel!"
Batman nodded and sighed softly. He then said as he shut his blue, illuminating eyes, "let's just sleep for now, okay?"
Joker nodded as he fell asleep on Batman's chest, smiling happily.
