Joker got up from the kitchen table after he had eaten his tea cake, thanking the butler thankfully for the wonderful and relaxing dessert. Alfred simply nodded and watched as the clown made it out the door safely.
Joker let out a sigh as he heard Garfield and Robin play with each other. He felt horrible about what he said to the Boy Wonder. It was uncalled for and childish of him to tell him that he shouldn't call the clown Papa. It hurt his heart badly. He had harmed his 'son' emotionally.
Walking up the stairs towards Bruce's room, Joker looked down at his kryptonite ring and teared up at the memories that flashed and echoed through his mind like a projector.
Don't you dare call me that!
You won't listen to me!
I hate you, Batman.
Why don't you listen to me?
You could have pulled away!
If you want him, you can have him!He opened the door and saw Batman facing away from the door. Tears were going down Joker's chin as he trembled slightly. A loud hic was heard as he walked towards the Dark Knight. Once he was beside the bed, his bottom lip quivered as he sat on the end of the bed.
"Hey, Batsy. I-I know you're sad about what I said. You're right about everything. But, I'm just worried that you'll leave me. And, I don't want you to leave me! I'm just so afraid of losing you to a more attractive and-and better person like Barbra. Don't you understand, Bruce? Of course, you probably do. I hate you, I love you, and I need you. But, I'm scared. I can't do this alone. Not without you, Batsy."Batman turned around and faced the crying clown as tears fell down his cheeks. He was afraid of losing the Joker, too. With Superman still interested in the clown, the compitition for dating Joker was intense. Batman scooted closer to the clown and hugged him tightly, seeing the ring that was clinged onto in his hand.
"Do you know how much I love you, Jack? I'm afraid of losing you, too! You, of all people, should know that. And I love you. Please know that, Jack. I will never give up on you. I'll try harder whenever Barbra tries to pull a move. Besides, you're hotter than-""Stop right there, Mister Flirt's-a-lot," Joker cut in, glaring at Batman with a seriously, ticked off look. "You, Mister Wayne, said the same exact thing before, and look what you have done. Of course you say nice things to me just to make me feel better. But, guess what? They make me think otherwise! Ever thought about that?"
The Dark Knight was about to say something, but Joker cut in. He gave an irritated sigh as the clown continued.
"Not only did you flirt with me to make me feel better about myself, but you keep on kissing Gordon Ramsay's lips! So, not only did we make love and all that snazzy jazz, not only did you propose to me, but you are kissing her behind my back! How would you feel if I did that to someone like you?! What if I was kissing Superman and not you?! Why do you think-""I get it, Joker!" Batman exclaimed as tears poured down his face like broken faucets. He looked at the clown and growled. "I get it, okay?! I messed it up! I always mess it up! But, you don't deserve any of this! You-you deserve better. You don't deserve me. I am so sorry, Joker. And I know apologizing won't fix anything I have done. But, if you don't want me to be yours, then we can call this whole thing off. You don't deserve someone like me. You should have someone better. And I know I keep repeating myself whenever I say that, but I repeat it because it's true! I am just a mess up."
Joker's eyes widened as the caped crusader broke into a hard and painful sob. Of course, he was correct with everything the man in black has done. The clown didn't know what to do now. Batman had just admitted that he had done very horrible and wrong things. And, as for the Joker, he was lost for words. Speechless, to be precise.
After a pause of thinking on what he should do, Joker finally made a long and hard decision. He would do something out of the ordinary. Something that no other man would do in a difficult situation such as this. The clown moved over to Batman and opened his fist, revealing the krytonite ring. With his free hand, Joker reached into the Dark Knight's pocket and slowly pulled out the music box, smiling at it. He winded it up a few times, making a small, creaking noise as he did. It began to slowly play Batman's theme song, making the Clown Prince of Crime tear up. He laid his head on the other's shoulder as tears fell from his acid green eyes. He hummed along to the music and smiled softly.
Placing the music box beside the Dark Knight, Joker grabbed Batman's hand with his free hand and began to cry harder. Batman's eyes widened as tears stopped falling and forming. He looked to his side, holding onto the other's hand tightly. Their fingers intertwined like two pieces of a broken heart. Of course, their hearts were broken and torn due to what has happened to them. But, the Dark Knight knew that he and the Joker could make it though the flame in glory.
When the music ended, Joker sighed shakily as he looked up at Batman, his bottom lip trembled. The Dark Knight looked down at their hands and smiled as the clown held his hand tighter.
"One more try," Joker finally said in a weak sob. "I want this relationship of ours to work, Batman. But, we need to work together. I know we can do this. We just need to stay very far away from Barbra. I need to stay very far away from Barbra."Batman nodded, kissing the top of his head. He held onto Joker's hand tighter and sighed. The clown began to calm down after a few moments which relieved the man in black. He looked down at the red and black roses on his blanket in shame.
"This is all my fault. I'm so dumb.""Yes. Yes, you are."
"Hey! You're supposed to be supporting in this story!"
"I don't feel like it today, Bat Baby. But, if it makes you feel any better, give me three balls," Joker said, smirking happily at the Dark Knight.
Batman rolled his blue, illuminating eyes and got up from his seat and went to his drawer. He opened it and grabbed a yellow, blue, and red ball and closed it again. The man in black then slowly made his way back and sat down onto the bed, giving the pale man the three balls. Joker thanked him with a small kiss and began to juggle, singing, "dat, dat, dat, dat, dat, dat, dat, dat, dat, dat!"
Batman chuckled and smiled at his beloved. Joker stopped juggling and dropped the three balls onto the ground. He looked at the man in black kissed his forehead, climbing into his lap and burrying his face into the other's chest.
"You're not the mess up here, Bats. If anyone is, it's me.""We're both equally messed up. How about that?" Batman chuckled as Joker stuck out his tongue like a little child. He kissed his cheek and smiled at the other, giving a wink to the clown as he turned bright red.
The two held onto each other as they melted into an embrace. The clown pulled out his hand that still had the kryptonite ring and opened his hand slowly. He looked at the Dark Knight and picked up the ring, placing it back onto his index finger. Joker giggled to himself. Batman wrapped his arms around Joker's waist and chuckled as the clown made a small squeak. He then laid down onto the bed and yawned softly as he rubbed Joker's sides, smiling softly.
"Love you very much, J-bird. Hope you rest well."The Clown Prince of Crime chuckled as he kissed Batman's chin, making himself comfortable in the Dark Knight's embrace, "I love you more, Batsy. Sleep tight." They then let their eyes flutter close, sleeping together as one. Tonight was eventful for the hero and the villain, but no relationship was perfect. Not even theirs.
