Alfred and the Joker told Garfield not to follow the freckled face boy, at least, for now. They told him that something happened to his father, and that Dick should see what the matter is. Of course, the green boy obliged and stayed with the pale man and butler until Dick was finished. He wondered what happened to mister Wayne. Did he die? Gosh, he hoped not.

As Dick headed towards his father's slightly opened door, he took a deep breath. He wondered what happened to his father to make Alfred and his Papa appear so worried. Anxiety began to slowly tak its toll as he began to wonder what the world would be like without Batman. Probably chaotic, he presumed.

Pushing away his anxiety aside, the freckled face went inside and closed his black, beady eyes tightly. Once inside, he opened them and gasped at the sight. His Padre was sitting up straight, giving a small, yet soft, smirk at the boy. The i.v was still injected inside of his father, same with the heart monitor that was on his chest. His mask was off, same with his clothes. The rest of his body was underneath the red and black rose blanket.

"Hey, kid. Missed me?" Bruce asked in a husky tone. He smiled more as his son began to dash to his side quickly, wrapping his arms around the man in black's masculine structure.

"You're okay?!"

"I'm okay," Bruce chuckled.

"You're okay!"

Dick couldn't believe his eyes and ears. Sure, he may be far sighted and all, but he thought he was seeing things when the freckled face boy saw his father sit up right. He was both amazed and happy at the same time. He was also on the urge of tears, but held them back. Then, he broke into a small sob after holding back the lump in his throat for a few moments. Bruce pulled the boy onto his lap and wrapped his arms around his sidekick's waist and sighed softly. He felt Dick's tears soak his exposed skin as he sobbed hard. Of course, Bruce did not mind this at all. If anything, he encouraged it.

After about ten minutes of crying, Dick looked up at his father and gave a small, heartbreaking whimper.
"You-you're real, right?"

Bruce touched his own face and chuckled softly. "Last time I checked, yes. Why? You think you're seeing thing, right?"

"Well," Dick looked down at the black carpet shamefully and slowly nodded. "I thought you were going to d-die."

"This is a PG film, Dick," Bruce cooed. "Why do you think the film writers saved Alfred?"

"What's a film writer-"

"I mean me!" Bruce laughed a little nervously. "Yeah, I meant me, kid! Don't worry about that. Now, as you were saying?"

Dick took in a shaky breath as he looked at his father. His eyes were so blue and perfect compared to the sidekick's dull, black, beady eyes. He tears up again and shook his head, still in disbelief.
"I-I missed you, Padre. I really did. I was scared that you were going to die. Especially on my-my birthday. I-I don't want that to sound greedy, but, I would be so sad i-if you did, Padre. You get it, right?"

Bruce nodded and kissed the top of Dick's head gently. He sighed softly and hugged his son tighter. He, too, was beginning to tear up. He was afraid that his son wouldn't care if he was gone. Although, he knew that this would never be the case. But still, it was a sad thought. Bruce would have missed his son dearly, too. Then again, his spirit would have haunted Joker and the sidekick as a ghost, anyway.

Kissing his forehead yet again, Bruce smiled at his son and let out a soft chuckle. He was so happy to be awake and with his son once again. He knew that Dick missed him. Who wouldn't?
"I missed you so much, Dick. I'm sorry that jerk-face Scarecrow did this to us. Let's see... Look under my bed."

Dick nodded and climbed off of the bed and went underneath it. He saw a large-sized box that had polka-dotted wrapping paper surrounding it. It had a yellow bow ontop of it, as well. The sidekick pulled the box and put it onto the bed. He sat next to his father and gave him the box, but Bruce pushed it back to Dick.
"Open it, kid."

Dick tilted his head curiously at his father, but nodded slowly. He took off the bow and slowly began to tear through the wrapping paper, revealing a brown box. The freckled face boy tilted his head, putting all of the left over wrapping paper into a neat and tidy pile. He then opened the box slowly and his eyes went wide.

Inside the box, there were three coloring books: a pony book, an animal book, and a Batman book. Beside them were three sets of fancy-looking crayons. He looked up at his father and teared up a little.
"I-I didn't want anything."

"I know," said Bruce in a soft tone. He cupped the freckled face boy's cheeks and smiled happily. "But, I just couldn't help myself. Besides, it was Papa's idea. I hope you-"

Dick cut him off with the biggest, largest, and most loving hug in the world. He kissed his father's cheeks and sobbed hard.
"Thank you!"

Bruce chuckled softly as he hugged his son back, giving a small squeak in response.
"You're very welcome, my Boy Wonder."
