This is really bad so I apologize in advance. It is hard to write for Hatabou. Plus it is really short.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

You sat down on the curb, looking up at the Hatabou tower and sighing. Pulling a cigarette out of your pocket, you readied yourself to light it. After lighting it, you started to smoke it as you usually did. To say you smoked often was an understatement. You smoked 24/7 and stole cigarettes when you couldn't afford them. They were just a coping tool to distract you from your thoughts.

Now why specifically were you staring at Hatabou Tower? Simple. He was a friend from your childhood and grew up to be richer and more successful than you. Plus his tower was decorated for Christmas and it looked nice. You were positive he had forgotten your existence.

"Why are you sitting alone, jo?"

That voice.

It sounded familiar.

"Would you like to come inside, jo?"

You pulled the cigarette from your lips and looked up, puffing out smoke. The person who had called your name held a straight face.

"Hatabou?" You questioned.

"Yes! It's me, jo!"

You sighed and looked back down, drawing another puff of smoke.

"Jo?"

Glancing back up at him, you suddenly were filled with hate.

"Why are you talking to me after ignoring me for years?" You asked through gritted teeth.

"You've been ignoring me, jo!"

"No I have not! Ever since you got rich, I've been all alone!"

You didn't even notice you were crying.

"Don't cry, jo!" He panicked as he pulled you up off of the ground.

Yanking your hand, he tried to pull you towards his home.

"Stop!" You said.

But he kept dragging you.

"S-stop!"

He continued.

"Leave me alone! I don't want your pity!"

He let go of your hand and turned to look at you. All of a sudden, you were lifted up by a lady and a man who followed Hatabou into the tower.

"Hey! Put me down!" You squirmed.

They did put you down but not until you were in the tower. You looked around. Tall ceilings, fancy furniture, and freshly cleaned windows.

'I don't belong here. I am out of place.'

Nervous and intimidated, you pulled out a cigarette and lit it.

"No smoking in here." The lady that had carried you said.

"But I just lit it. I can't waste a perfectly good cigarette!"

"No cancer sticks here!" She said, pulling the cigarette from your fingers.

"Let her smoke, jo! It helps calm her, jo!"

The lady sighed and handed you your cigarette back before suddenly being shot by the man who had helped carry you.

"WHAT THE HECK?!?!" You screamed, inching back towards the entrance.

"When one of us does something wrong or against what Mr. Flag wants, we are eliminated."

A gulp went down your throat.

"H-Hatabou....?"

He showed you a goofy smile and suddenly ran up to hug you. Since he was so small, his arms wrapped around your butt.

"You have a nice butt, jo!" He giggled, squeezing you tighter.

Your face flushed.

"Please stop...." You choked, dragging once again on your cigarette.

He let go of you and held your hand, once again trying to pull you somewhere. After a few minutes, you were finally alone in an elevator with Hatabou, going up to who knows where.

"When can I go home?" You asked, genuinely curious of when you could escape this fancy place and return back to your place in the alley.

"What home, jo?"

You were taken aback. How did he know you lived on the streets? Was he stalking you?

"You are going to live here, jo!" He exclaimed as he unlocked and opened a door to a large room with a huge fluffy bed, a corner with a flatscreen tv and gaming systems, a small kitchen, a bathroom, as well as some other things. You noticed a large fish tank with rare fish and sea creatures as well as a fat cat on your bed.

"This is one of our many suites, jo! This one is yours now, jo!" He smiled as he handed you the key to your condo-like room. You shoved the keys back at him.

"But-"

"No buts, jo!" He retorted, shoving the keys back at you.

'It's like an apartment.....'

"I can't live here! I am out of place!" You complained, trying to go back into the elevator only for the tiny man to block the doorway.

"Make yourself at home, jo! Your assistant will be here soon to take you shopping, jo!"

"Shopping? What?"

"Yes, jo! Merry Christmas, jo!"

You broke down crying again. "I don't deserve this Hatabou!"

The short man sat you down on a beanbag chair and hugged you again.

"Of course you do, jo!" He reassured, pulling away and stroking your hair with his baby hands.

"Hatabou? Why are you being so nice to me?"

"Because you deserve a better life, jo!"

You blushed lightly and scratched the back of your neck. The man-child giggled and hugged you for what must've been the millionth time that day. Though you didn't quite understand why he was being so nice to you, you really did appreciate his charity.

"Thank you, Hattie....." You smiled, calling him by his nickname from when you two were kids.

"No problem, jo!" He bounced up and grinned widely.

"Merry Christmas, Mad Hatter...." you laughed, using yet another dumb nickname. You paused. "I NEED TO GET YOU A GIFT!"

"No, jo!"

"But you did all this for me, Hattie! I have to pay you back!" You insisted, feeling guilty all of a sudden.

"I did this because I wanted to, jo! Consider it a Christmas gift for an old friend from an old friend, jo!" He seemed so happy and genuine. You felt as though he actually wanted to help you.

You chuckled and realized how much you needed a friend like Hatabou to lift you up.

"Either way, I am getting you a gift!" You said, running out of the room and to the store with an assistant.
