Warning: suicide, angst

I'm sorry it's so short!
He'd done it. He'd promised he wouldn't do it. He told Evan he'd gotten better. That the therapist was helping, that Evan was... enough.
Clearly he wasn't. Clearly Evan wasn't helping enough. He'd known as soon as Connor didn't show up at school.
Evan knew that some days were better then others; one day he couldn't stop smiling, and the next day Connor couldn't get out of bed.
But Connor would always text Evan first, so Evan didn't go into 'panic mode' as Connor called it.
"Where's Connor?" Evan had asked, getting no real answer from the lunch table. He pulled out his phone and sent Connor another text, trying desperately to get an answer.
"He probably skipped today. Don't stress about it." Zoe said, patting him on the back.
"Yeah Zoe, cuz that's a great thing to tell someone with anxiety." Jared said snickering.
The conversation spiraled after that, but Evan couldn't bring himself to listen. He was too worried about Connor to listen, and as he later found out, he was right.
"Connor?" Evan called out, closing the door behind him. He set his back down, rushing up stairs to Connors room. He knocked softly, but loud enough to be heard.
"Connor? You, uh, you okay?" When even didn't get a response, he quickly fumbled with the doorknob, forcing it open.
As soon as the door opened, he wished it hadn't.
He wish he hadn't seen Connor like that.
He wished that it would've never come to this point.
But wishing doesn't stop Connor from being dead. Wishing doesn't do anything.
At some point in time, Evan had called 911. He didn't remember when, but apparently he did.
He felt the shock blanket being wrapped around him, and he heard all of their voices, but everything blended together as his only thought remained. Connor Connor Connor.
Evan stood at the top of the tallest tree he could find.
He glanced down, taking a deep breath. He couldn't live with himself after what he'd seen. He'd convinced himself that it was all his fault.
If he'd been there sooner, if he'd been closer to Connor, if he told Connor how he truly felt about him...
But it was too late for that. Too late to change Connors fate.
It wasn't too late to change Evans fate though.
"I... I didn't ever have time to, to uh, tell you." Evan said, holding onto the tree tightly. "I always wanted to tell you, uh..." Evan let out a broken laugh. "If I could've told you how you're everything to me, maybe we wouldn't be here."
Evans grip on the tree loosened. "But, uh, at least it can be only us on the other side."
Evan weakly smiled as he let go.
