Day 655
Tuesday 12th June 2018
I spoke to Mike this morning about being in a mood with Janine. "Is she upsetting you?" asked Mike, "If she is, I'll just kill her. That cheese wire's still in the kitchen cupboard. It'll only take me a few minutes." "I just want to avoid her," I said, "You don't think I should thank her for getting that infected off me do you?" "No f*cking way," said an assertive Mike, "She's a dirty little piggy. If I'd have been here I'd have got that infected f*cker off you. She only helped you so she could help herself. There's no way she's coming to The Base with us, and if she even starts having a go at me again I'll stick my hand down her throat, rip out her tongue and feed it to Ollie." In a weird way Mike made me feel better. My mind was now made up – I wasn't going to say thank you to Janine and I was going to do my best to avoid her for as long as we're here.
Later on Mike went out with Tara and Esther and while they once again returned with some supplies, including some items we can use as weapons, Trudy and Mike weren't with them.
Once Tara, Esther and Mike had returned, Tara gathered us all in the living room. "Right," she assertively said, "I think it's fair to say we've tried our best to find TJ and Trudy but it's now time to head for The Base." "We can't take Primark and Aldi without their parents," said an upset Dotty. "What do you suggest?" asked Tara, "We've done everything we can. Wherever TJ and Trudy are, we can't find them. We have to go." "Dotty," I said, "I don't like the idea of the twins being away from their Mum and Dad either but Trudy and TJ would want them to be safe." "Exactly," said Tara, "And they'll be safe at The Base. You and Leo will be safe too." "So we're agreed?" said Tara, "Tomorrow morning we all head for The Base?" "Not all of us," said Esther, giving a nasty sideward stare to Janine. "Yeah that's right," I said looking at Janine with a smug grin on my face, "You'll have this place all to yourself tomorrow. You can wander round and enjoy the whole house. . . alone." "You'd be dead if it wasn't for me," said Janine. "None of us would be in this predicament if you and your lot hadn't have shown up here," I angrily snapped, "The twins would be with their parents, I wouldn't have a dodgy leg and we'd still have our bus. This entire mess is all your f*cking fault." "I didn't leave the twins, Trudy and TJ did," snapped Janine, "You wound up Knuckles and that's why you got such a beating and the bus wasn't yours in the first place." I was about to snap back but Esther interrupted me. "Knock it off, both of you," she snapped, "This isn't helping." "Esther's right," said Tara, "We need to start planning on how we're going to get to The Base." "Planning?" said Mike, "What do we need to plan? We just pack, get in the cars and go." "Cars?" said Janine, "As in more than one?" "Yeah d*ckhead," I bluntly said, "An S at the end of a word usually means there's more than one. We do have two cars here." "One of those cars is mine," said Janine, "I brought it from the compound. Technically speaking both of the cars are mine." "Big fat hairy, sweaty rhino b*llocks," said Mike, "Nothing in that compound was yours. You probably scavenged every single car there." "So what if I did?" said Janine, "You didn't scavenge them, that's what matters. Those cars are mine not yours." "Look, we'll leave you with the car you took and we'll take the car we took," said Tara. "We won't all be able to fit in one car though," said Dotty. "So we'll just take the other car," said Mike. "No you won't," snapped Janine, "I've just told you – that's my car. You'll take it over my dead body." "That can be arranged," said Mike, staring at Janine with an intimidating look on his face. "We could just kill you right now," I said to Janine. "No one needs to kill anyone," said Dotty, "We can sort this out." "We need that other car," said Esther. "Well let me come with you and then you can have the car," said Janine, "Simple." There was an awkward silence. "There's no way you're coming with us," I firmly said. "I'm with Luke," said Mike, "There's more chance of me getting pregnant than there is of you coming with us. We'll just take both the cars and if you give us any trouble we'll kill you. Simple." "Why don't we just let Janine come with us?" said Dotty. "Oh I don't know?" I sarcastically said, "Maybe because she's a devious, underhanded, two faced, psychotic b*tch who is hated by everyone here." "She saved your life," said Dotty. "Oh shut up, Dotty," I snapped. "Janine can look after herself," said Dotty, "She's a fighter. We need people like her with us." "People like her?" I exclaimed, "No one needs people like her with them." "Luke, we can't all fit in one car," said Dotty, "We've got three kids and a dog. We need two cars." "I don't want that b*tch coming with us," I snapped, pointing at Janine. "Well have you got any better ideas?" Dotty asked. There was a brief moment of silence. I looked at Tara. "I guess she'll have to come with us," Tara reluctantly said. I stood up in a huff and started waving my arms around with anger. "No!" I loudly said, "No f*cking way. I'm not going anywhere with that absolute tw*t." "Luke, we haven't got a choice," said Tara. "Yeah we have," said Mike, "Why don't we just kill her?" "No one is killing anyone," said Dotty. "Looks like you're stuck with me doesn't it, Luke?" Janine said with a smug grin on her face. "Janine, shut up," said Tara, "You're not helping. I suggest we all get an early night, get up early, pack and then make our way to The Base." "She is NOT coming with us!" I loudly snapped, pointing at Janine. "She IS coming with us," Dotty, assertively said. "Luke, I'm not happy about this either," said Tara, "But we just need to make the most of it." "How long's it going to take us to get there?" asked Esther. "It depends," said Tara, "If we drive through Brickford we'll be there in no time, but the place is crammed with infected." "What's the alternative?" asked Esther. "We drive round Brickford," said Tara, "A lot less infected to come across but it'll take longer." "But that sounds safer," said Dotty, "We've got the kids to think about."
The discussions continued and it was agreed that a note and map of how to get to The Base would be left for TJ and Trudy in case they both came back. As everyone continued talking I couldn't stand to look at Janine's smug face so I told everyone to f*ck off and stormed off upstairs, however Mike came up and spoke to me. He said he had a plan, and after a long winded introduction and convoluted build up he said that he would sort everything out. This was followed by him giving me a cheeky wink. "Mike, what exactly are you saying?" I asked. "You just go to bed, go to sleep and I'll fix everything," said Mike. "What do you mean?" I asked. Mike smiled and again winked at me. "What are you winking at me for?" I asked. Again, he smiled and winked. "I don't know what you're saying," I said, "What does all this winking mean?" "Don't you worry," said Mike, "Go to bed. Get a good night's sleep and leave everything to me." Mike left my room with a look on his face that suggested he was up to no good but was proud of it. I still don't have any idea of what he was trying to say.
Just now Tara came to see me. She said she understood why I was so angry and that she was also p*ssed off. "Don't worry though Luke," she said, "I've got a plan. Once we get out of here and take that b*tch with us, I'm going to kill her the first chance I get." I raised my eyesbrows in surprise. I wasn't expecting this. "You what?" I said. "We'll just tell her that it's a tense situation and that we all need to make the best of it. Then when she least expects it we'll cave her skull in and get rid of her. It's about time we stopped taking sh*t from people. You get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow's going to be a big day." No sh*t, tomorrow's going to be a big day. I just hope everything works out. . . .
