Day 743
Saturday 8th September 2018You'll never guess who turned up at work to see me today – Naomi!
It was a pretty box standard Saturday; TJ and I doing the rounds telling people not to drop litter and dealing with gobby kids when we decided to go back to the office and eat some of Mia's homemade chocolate brownie cake. I went into my office, finished off my slice of cake and made a start on the paperwork for Rick that I've been putting off for ages when TJ knocked on my door and tentatively put his head round the corner. "Sorry boss but you've got a visitor," said TJ. "Can you tell them to come back this afternoon?" I said, "Or even better, tomorrow morning? I'm determined to get this paperwork done." "She's pretty insistent," said TJ. "Who is?" I asked, frowning with annoyance. "Me," said an assertive voice. I looked up to see Naomi barging passed TJ and standing confidently in the doorway. Naomi looked serious, I looked shocked, and poor TJ looked embarrassed. An awkward silence lingered. "I'll leave you both to it," said a nervous TJ. "No," I firmly said, "TJ, I want you to stay." "I need to talk to you alone," said Naomi. "Unlucky," I assertively said, "You either talk to me in front of TJ, or you don't talk to me at all." "I NEED to speak to you in private," insisted Naomi. I gave a frustrating sigh and rolled my eyes. "TJ, leave us alone," I said, "Naomi you've got two minutes and then you're out of here." TJ closed the door and Naomi walked over to my desk and sat opposite me. "It's really good to see you," she said. "Just get to the point," I firmly said, "Caroline will go mad if she knows you're here." "How is she?" Naomi asked with a b*tchy tone, "Still trying to turn the whole town against me?" "You did that yourself," I bluntly said. "Jesus Luke, it was only a kiss," said Naomi, "You wanted it as much as I did." "It was a mistake," I firmly said, "I can see that why can't you. Anyway, if you hadn't have lied and told everyone we slept together when we didn't, you wouldn't have so many people blanking you now." "Bullsh*t," snapped Naomi, "People aren't talking to me because your precious wife went on a school girl strop and used emotional blackmail on them." "I told you that you had two minutes," I said, looking at my watch, "One of them has nearly gone." "I need to introduce you to someone," said Naomi, "Something weird is going on." "What are you talking about?" I bluntly said. "I think someone has done something to our memories," said Naomi, "It's weird but since I met this woman it's like I remember living here in Feemh Oak but I also remember other stuff. It's really strange. It's like there's this life but another sort of life." "What on Earth are you talking about?" I said, quickly getting annoyed and feeling impatient. "Do you remember someone called DeShawn?" asked Naomi. "Who?" I exclaimed in frustration. "DeShawn," said Naomi, "A big strong black guy that liked to dress up as a woman." "What the f*ck are you talking about?" I snapped, "Have you actually lost the plot?" "You remember anything about a girl called Courtney?" asked Naomi, sounding confused. "What?" I snapped. "Something about a holiday camp and a village called Little Nob?" "Right that's it," I firmly said, standing up, "Your two minutes are up." I walked round to Naomi's side of the desk, grabbed her by her right arm and yanked her out of the chair. "Luke, please," said Naomi, sounding desperate, "I have to talk to you. There's someone I need to introduce you to." "Let me introduce you to my door," I said, ushering Naomi towards it, "This is the inside." I then opened the door. "And this is the outside," I said. I ushered Naomi outside of my office and into the outer office where TJ and Mia were, both looking rather uncomfortable. "Luke, please," said Naomi, "Will you just listen." I dragged Naomi through the office, over to the exit and opened the door. "You've talked. I've listened," I said, "Now it's time for you to go and for me to say bye-bye. Bye-bye." I threw Naomi out and slammed the door shut. I then turned and looked at Mia and TJ who both appeared very awkward. A slightly uncomfortable silence lingered for a moment. "Don't say a word," I firmly said. "Not one word," said TJ. "No, not at all," said Mia, "We won't tell Caroline." "I don't mean don't tell Caroline," I snapped, "I mean don't say anything about her showing up. I don't want to talk about it – and as for Caroline. I'll tell her myself."
I told Caroline that Naomi turned up at work as soon as I got home. She wasn't happy. "What?!" she exclaimed, "Why did she turn up? What did she want? Are you still seeing her? You told me it was over!" "Calm down," I assertively said, "I'm not really sure why she turned up, I don't REALLY know what she wanted and as far seeing her – I was NEVER seeing her. It was just one kiss." "Well that's not what she said is it?" snapped Caroline. "I know what she said Caroline," I said, "Come on, we've been over this." "What did she want?" asked an emotional Caroline. "Do you know, I really don't know," I said, "She wasn't making any sense. She was talking about introducing me to someone and asking me about black men that dress as women and holiday camps and some village called Little Nob. I have no idea what she was going on about. I think she said something about someone doing something to our memories. I think she's going mad." "She went mad a long time ago if she thought there was a chance she could split up our marriage," said Caroline, "The absolute b*tch." "Don't worry," I said, "I was only alone with her for about two minutes." "What! Why the Hell were you on your own with her!?" Caroline loudly said. "Caroline, it was for two minutes," I said, trying to reassure her, "I'm the head of town security. I can't chuck someone out if they want to see me. Anyway, once she started ranting and raving and talking sh*t, I grabbed hold of her and chucked her out. I wanted to tell you just in case you heard anything from Mia or TJ. I don't want any secrets between us."
I managed to calm Caroline down and assure her that she had nothing to worry about. I think Naomi's, a) out of order to just turn up at my work and start causing sh*t and, b) losing the plot if she thinks her memories have been altered. Mad bint. As for me, I had the same weird dream again last night where I was locked in the same dingy room. God knows what it means. They're getting a bit boring now. . . .
