Day 727
Thursday 23rd August 2018

What the Hell is going? It's like I've suddenly found myself in some sort of weird, alternative reality. This is proper freaky. Something really strange and sinister is going on and I need to figure out what.

The day started in a most peculiar way. I opened my eyes and found that I was staring, not at a white clinical wall, but a pine bedside table with a burgundy lamp, small alarm clock and a box of tissues on top. I immediately realised this wasn't the room I fell asleep in. I felt confused but also cautious. My caution then increased as I felt some movement next to me. Someone else was in the bed with me! With widened eyes and a thumping heart, I could feel the mysterious person getting out of bed and I heard them walking toward the window. As I remained frozen to the spot, the curtains were opened and the room filled with sunlight. I could hear the sound of footsteps walking around on the other side of the room. I had no idea who this person was, what was going on or why I was in bed with them. Getting ready to fight, I reached for the lamp on the side of the bedside table. I quietly slid my hand at the back of the unit, pulled the plug out of the socket and then as quick as a flash I jumped out of bed, grabbed the lamp, turned round, adopted a defensive position and looked over the mysterious person. It was Caroline! She was walking around the bedroom wearing a dressing gown and picking up stray items of clothes. I was NOT expecting this. "Oh you're up then?" she said, "I thought you were asleep. Look at this place, it's a pig sty. I wish you'd learn to put dirty laundry in the basket like everyone else. Good job I love you isn't it?" Caroline noticed I was holding the lamp tightly in my hand. "What are you doing with that?" she said, "Has the fuse gone or something? I think there's some spares in the kitchen drawer." Caroline looked at her watch. "Oh God, look at the time," she said, "I'm going to be late. Rick's going to kill me. Sorry babes. I need the shower. You're going to have to wait." Caroline, quickly came over to my side of the bedroom and kissed me on the cheek. "I've got to go," she said, "I'll be back about six. We can have that chicken tonight. Remember to take it out of the fridge. See ya." Caroline then left the room, leaving me in a state of absolute shock. I was wearing a clean t-shirt and a clean pair of pants that I was not wearing when I was in the small white room yesterday. I looked down and noticed that I had a wedding ring on my finger. That's new! I thought to myself. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. I could hear the sound of a shower being used from the bathroom next door. Feeling in a state of shock and confusion and with the lamp still in my hand I started to explore the room I was in; a large room with a double bed, two big wardrobes and a tall set of drawers in the corner. I opened the doors to one of the wardrobes to find a selection of jeans, shirts, t-shirts, jumpers and other men's clothes. If these were my clothes, I had no memory of them. I then heard footsteps, quickly coming up the stairs and making their way towards me. Again, I firmly gripped the lamp, preparing to defend myself in case I needed to when the owner of the footsteps approached me. My confusion increased further as Kyle appeared and stood in the bedroom doorway. "Dad, can I have a tenner?" he said. I stared at him with silence, appearing terribly shocked. The silence lingered for a few moments. Kyle frowned with stroppy confusion. "Err . . . Hello?" he said, "Earth to Dad?" I stood frozen to the spot feeling very confused. Part of me thought it was all a dream. "God," said a moody Kyle, "It's only a tenner. I'll pay you back." Kyle walked past me, picked up a pair of jeans, removed a wallet from it and took a tenner from it. "I'll pay you back later," said Kyle, "See ya Dad. Laters." Kyle then left leaving me feeling more confused than I have ever been. I picked up the wallet and looked inside. It was mine. It had some notes in, some coins and something that looked a bit like a bank card. There was also some sort of discount card for a pub, some sort of travel card and something that looked like a pay as you go top up card.
