Day 726
Wednesday 22nd August 2018

I have no idea where I am, where the others are or what the Hell is going on.

I'm currently on my own in a really weird room. It's small, has a shiny white laminated floor, clean white walls and a single bed in the corner with crisp white linen. Clinical and emotionless are the words that come to mind. There's holes around the top of the walls and the door has no lock or keyhole on the inside. I'm really worried - about myself AND the others, especially Auntie Meryl, Kyle and Leo.

The drama started in the afternoon when, to lighten the mood, Mia had organised for us to play a game of cricket. There was the usual, expected kerfuffle of people arguing over who got to bat first, who was on which team and who the umpire was. "An umpire?" said a confused Mia, "Isn't that like some sort of big kingdom?" "That's an empire you idiot," I said. "Well where's the bat?" asked Tara. "She's over there looking after the kids," giggled TJ, pointing at my Auntie Meryl. "Oi, that's my Auntie you're calling a bat," I firmly said, "If you're going to call anyone a bat, call my ex-wife a bat."

As we set the game up I saw Mike at the side of the field talking to Thomas. I walked over and asked Thomas if he was OK. Mike and I avoided eye contact. "I'm fine," said Thomas, "I know you've all been worried about me. I just haven't been feeling well." "How are the Elephants?" I asked. "Elephants?" said a confused Thomas, "Oh yeah. Sorry. Yeah they're fine." "Didn't you think one of them was ill?" I said. "Err. . . Yeah," said Thomas, "Turns out I was worrying about nothing. They're both OK. I get myself into a right state when I think they're ill." "Well as long as you're OK," I said, "We were a bit worried when you just disappeared." "Yeah sorry about that," said Thomas, "I just needed some time on my own. Anyway, I'll let you lot get on with your cricket game. I'll look after the kids and take them inside. It's a bit hot out here." "Auntie Meryl can look after the kids," I said, "Come and play cricket with us." "Oh I've never been much good at cricket," said Thomas, "Anyway, I think we need to give your Auntie Meryl a break from the kids. Mike, do you want to give me a hand getting the kids inside?" Mike gave me a sideward look, suggesting he was still in a mood with me. I wasn't bothered. I was still in a mood with him and I think I've got more right to be p*ssed off with him than he has with me. "Yeah, OK," said a serious sounding Mike. He and Thomas collected Leo, Sophie and Primark from Auntie Meryl and took them inside.

We played cricket for a while and we all actually enjoyed ourselves for once. We were laughing and joking and generally having a nice time. I became a bit distracted when I noticed Naomi talking to Auntie Meryl in the distance. I was determined to talk to her about our kiss and about what she said to me yesterday.

After a few hours or so we all decided to take a break. Trudy and I decided to go and check on the kids but when we arrived at the visitors centre, Thomas, Mike and the kids weren't there. Trudy and I exchanged confusing looks. "Hmmm, where are they?" I said, sounding contemplative. I walked over to one of the tables and saw a discarded wet wipe. "Well they've been here," I said, "Maybe they've gone for a walk or something." "He brought them inside because it's too hot outside," said Trudy. There was a short pause. "Oh sh*t," said Trudy, "I'm starting to get really worried now." "Calm down," I said, "I'm sure there's nothing to worry about." "No," said Trudy, as she started to increasingly worry, "I've always thought that Thomas was a bit of a freak; spouting off all those animal facts and sh*t, and you said he'd been acting like a weirdo lately." "I never used the word weirdo," I said, "Anyway, he thought one of the elephants was ill. He loved those animals; he was bound to get upset." "Well where is he then!?" Trudy loudly snapped, as she started to get into a panic, "And what's he done with the kids." "Just calm down," I emphasised, "He's not DONE anything with the kids." "So where are they!?" Trudy loudly exclaimed, "And where's Mike?" I suddenly felt incredibly nervous as a cold shiver quickly ran down my back. I remembered how Mike had been behaving recently and how her been jealous of me spending more time with Leo and Kyle. I looked worried and Trudy noticed. "What?" she said, "What is it? What's that face for? Why are you looking like that?" All of a sudden we heard a muffled sound coming from the store cupboard behind us. Trudy and I quickly turned round, exchanged tense looks and walked over to the cupboard. We opened the door to find Thomas, squashed inside the cupboard, slumped up against the wall with a woozy look on his face. "Oh my God," I gasped, as Trudy and I helped Thomas to his feet, "Are you OK?" "What's going on?" snapped Trudy, "Where are the kids?" "He took them," said Thomas, rubbing his head. "Who took them?" asked an assertive Trudy. "Mike," said Thomas. "Mike!?" exclaimed Trudy, "Why would he take them? Where's he taken them? What the f*ck is going on?" "He said he had to take them to The Base," said Thomas. "What?" said an angry and confused Trudy, "That makes absolutely NO sense. Why would he take the kids to The Base?" "I don't know," said Thomas, "He just said it was something he had to do. I tried to stop him but he knocked me out and shut me in here." My anxiety quickly increased as my whole body became covered in Goosebumps. Feeling terribly shocked, furious at Mike and worried about Leo I leapt into action. "Right," I firmly said, "We need to go to The Base NOW." "No hang on a minute," said Trudy, "Why would Mike take the kids to The Base?" "I've told you," said Thomas, "I don't know. He just grabbed the keys to Naomi's Nissan, knocked me out, put the kids in the car and went."
