Day 748
Thursday 13th September 2018I thought I'd come up with a great idea to try and get us all out of this clinical prison today, but sadly my plan didn't work.
We were all sat around feeling sorry for ourselves. I was getting really tense, and in some cases, frustrated looks from the others. Caroline looked really sad, Naomi looked really angry and most of the others looked really suspicious around me. I found this really annoying. I've done f*ck all wrong but I'm getting looks like I'm public enemy number one. It's hard for me to say anything though. I'm the only one whose memories are intact, so I'm in the minority. I feel like I'm all alone.
I was sat with Trudy and she was talking to me about being a mother. "Luke, wouldn't I know if I was a mother," said a confused Trudy, "Wouldn't I have some sort of feeling?" "I don't know," I said, sounding tired, "I lived in Feemh Oak for all that time and had no memory of Leo. These ACROBAT people are evil f*ckers. They don't care about preserving and enhancing life. Hey only care about themselves. What sort of organisation separates a baby from its parent?" "I just don't feel like a Mum," said Trudy. "Well you are," I bluntly said, "I didn't feel like a Dad to a new born baby but I was. ACROBAT's a lot more manipulative than I realised. Trudy, I remember living with Caroline in Feemh Oak, sharing a bed with her and having a happy marriage, but it was all fake. I'm sitting here, talking to you, right now, and remembering it all but knowing it was all fake. When that red button on the triple M machine gets pressed you'll remember all this but you'll know it's fake." "Yeah but if everything you're saying is true, then why are you – we – so important to these ACROBAT people?" asked Trudy. "Well that's a question that's been unanswered for ages but it's been answered now hasn't it?" I said. "What do you mean?" said Trudy. "This Feemh Oak experiment sh*t," I said, "That's why they wanted us; to test out their little fake town setup. Survivors are hard to come by so they've been after us so they can use us for all this experiment stuff. B*stards." "I had ACROBAT Paracetamols in my house," said Trudy, sounding shocked. "Oh my God," I said, suddenly realising something. "What?" asked Trudy. "I've just thought of a way we can get out of here." "How?" asked Trudy. I quickly took my shoe off and repeatedly started throwing it at the cameras above and started shouting to try and get ACROBAT's attention. Some of the others gathered. "Babes, what are you doing?" asked Caroline. "Caroline will you stop calling me babes," I bluntly said, "It sounds weird." Caroline looked upset upon hearing me say this but at that point I was more bothered about getting ACROBAT's attention. "Luke, what are you doing?" asked a firm Tara. I turned and looked at everyone. "I think I've got a way to get us all out of here," I said. "And back to Feemh Oak?" said Parrissa. "No," I snapped, "Parrissa, Feemh Oak isn't real. Forget about Feemh Oak." "Sorry but how is throwing your shoe up at the cameras going to get us out of here?" asked a blunt Tara. "It'll get their attention," I said. "Yeah but come on boss," said TJ, "It'll wind them up." "Look," I said, "None of you will remember this because of all this memory wipe sh*t, but Trudy is immune to the E-Virus." "What's the E-Virus?" asked Richard. "Christ!" I loudly exclaimed, "I've told you all this. Haven't you been listening? It's the virus that's destroyed the world and turns people into infected, vicious, flesh hungry monsters. If you get bitten by someone who is infected, YOU get infected, then you die, come back and YOU start running around trying to bite chunks out of people's necks, but Trudy is immune to the virus." "I'm immune?" said Trudy. I grabbed hold of Trudy's arm, rolled up her sleeve and showed her some of the old bite marks. "Look," I said, "Do you remember how you got these?" "Well I didn't' get them because I was bitten by some weird infected monster," said Trudy, "I got that one when I was bitten by a dog." "No," I firmly said, "That's the fake memories talking." "No, sorry boss," said TJ, "But I was there when it happened. I saw that dog run up to her and bite her." "No you didn't," I firmly said, "That's just what you've been made to believe by ACROBAT." I pointed to the scar on my cheek. "Look at that," I said, "How did I get that?" "I don't know," said TJ. "Why don't you know?" I bluntly asked. TJ looked confused. I pulled down my shirt to show TJ the scar on my shoulder from when I was shot by Dump in Dumpville. "What's that?" I asked. "Well it looks like some sort of bullet wound," said TJ. "That's right," I firmly said, "How did I get it?" "Erm . . . I don't know," said TJ. "Why don't you know?" I bluntly asked, "We've been friends for years haven't we?" "Well I suppose you never told me?" said TJ, sounding bewildered. "No," I firmly said, "I was shot in the shoulder and in the arse by a man called Ronald Dump last year. You know this. I told you. The reason you don't remember is because ACROBAT have f*cked with your memories and the reason you aren't coming up with some bullsh*t reason as to how I got these scars, is because ACROBAT gave you a cloned version of me without any scars or bullet wounds. Your brain doesn't know what to make of it, but you've been programmed to think Trudy's bites are from accidents involving dogs but the truth is she was bitten by infected. "Then how come she isn't a monster like you said?" asked Richard. "Because she's immune!" I loudly snapped, "Christ, will you all listen. The other week an infected got into the zoo and Trudy got bitten. It turned out it's not the first time she'd been bitten. Now I don't know if this means she has the virus in her blood, if she's a carrier or what, but it definitely means she can't get infected and turn into one of those things. If we tell ACROBAT that we've got someone here who's immune to the virus, they might let us out." "Or we might p*ss them off even more," said Naomi. "Yeah well it's worth a shot," I said. I picked up my shoe and threw it at the camera. "COME ON YOU F*CKERS!" I shouted, "WE WANT TO TALK TO YOU!" "Hang on boss," said TJ, "What are these weird sci-fi lot going to do with Trudy? I don't want them barging in here and dragging her out to do freaky experiments." "TJ, this is a chance for us all to get out of here," I firmly said, "Just shut up. I know what I'm doing. Trudy, don't worry. I'm sure you'll be fine." I picked up my shoe and was about to once again throw it at one of the cameras when all of a sudden a swooshing sound was heard coming from behind us. We all turned round to see the large white wall fill with a large screen like it did the other day. Goyle's firm and aggressive face appeared. "It's Goyle," I angrily said. "Is this a recording?" asked Kyle. "No, young man," said a Goyle, "This time it is not a recording." "You can hear us?" I asked. "I can indeed," said Goyle, "And I must ask you not to damage our property." "I wanted to get your attention," I firmly said. "You have it," said Goyle, "What do you want?" "We want you to let us out of here you pr*ck!?" Naomi, loudly snapped. "Naomi, shut up," snapped Caroline, "That's just going to make things worse." "You will all be released in due course," said Goyle, "Mr Endo just needs more data." "We're not lab rats," snapped Naomi, "You can't treat us like this!" "We can treat you how we see fit," said a firm Goyle, "You people have caused us nothing but trouble." "Eh?" exclaimed Trudy, "What the Hell have we done!?" "You're the ones who have been chasing us all over the country just so you can shove us in this weird fake town set up," I snapped. Goyle laughed. "What's so funny?" I snapped. "You think you know everything don't you?" said Goyle, "But you know nothing." "What the Hell does that mean?" I snapped. "You wanted our attention," said Goyle, "You have it. Now tell me what you want." "When are you going to restore this lots memories?" I directly asked. "When we feel like it," said Goyle, "We're just deciding what to do with you." "Well I've got some information that might help you make a decision quicker," I said. "Go on," said Goyle. "Well if I tell you I want you to promise that you'll let us out of here," I said. "No," said a firm Goyle, "Tell me what you know, or what you seem to THINK you know and I will consider if it's worth releasing you." I turned and looked at the others. "I guess it's the best we've got," said Naomi. "Nothing to lose," said Richard. "Hang on," said TJ, sounding worried, "I'm not sure about this." "TJ, shut up," I firmly said, "I know what I'm doing." I took a step forward and gave Goyle a determined look. "Someone in this room is immune to the infection," I confidently said. "Really?" said Goyle, "Do tell me more." "Someone in this room has been bitten by infected multiple times and they haven't turned," I assertively said, "Now I don't know if they're completely immune to the virus or if they're a carrier, or something else, but I'm pretty sure if you guys really are interested in preserving and enhancing human life, that you'd be interested in knowing who this person is. Now if you let us out of here, we'll tell you who." I felt very confidently, as if I was holding all the aces. There as a dramatic pause as I took a step back and waited for Goyle to respond. He looked up, gave me a huge smug smile, stared laughing and very slowly clapping. I frowned with confusion and annoyance. "Well done Luke," said Goyle with a big smile, "Not a bad effort for a scrawny walking disaster like you. I think it might have been your finest moment, but Luke Warm's finest moment is simply another man's embarrassingly pathetic effort." "What do you mean?" I snapped. "We already know that one of you in immune," said Goyle, "Trudy." This was a surprise. I didn't see this coming. Goyle could clearly see the shock on my face. "Oh don't look so surprised," said Goyle, "We are recording everything you say whilst you're in that room. We've had drones following you around for ages and we monitored you very closely when we placed you in Feemh Oak. We knew a very long time ago about Trudy, so I'm afraid that's not a very useful bargaining chip. Oh, and you may be interested to know that whilst she was in Feemh Oak we took some of her blood to try and create a cure." "A cure?" I said, "I thought you wanted to preserve the E-Virus and refine it?" "Oh we do," said Goyle, "But Trudy's blood could be used to develop a vaccine that could cure the infected whilst we finish off refining the virus." "Refining the virus?" I snapped, "You've been trying to refine it for years." "And we won't stop until we have succeeded," said Goyle, "Once fully refined the E-Virus will change the face of the human race." "It's already done that," I snapped. "It will be worth billions," said Goyle. "So that's what it's all about?" snapped Naomi, "Money?" "Hang on," snapped Trudy, "How the Hell have you been getting my blood?" "Whilst you were asleep," said Goyle, "Don't worry. You were fast asleep. It didn't hurt and you knew nothing about it. We're making clones of you as we speak, but at some point it is likely that Harold and his team will need the real you." "Leave her alone!" snapped an angry TJ. "What have you done with my Dad?" snapped Mia. "He is heading the team that is refining the virus and trying to develop a cure for the current E-Virus using Trudy's blood," said Goyle, "This is how he re-pays us for reuniting you both. He is in our debt." "How can he be in your debt if he's the CEO?" asked Caroline. "His status as CEO of ACROBAT is unconfirmed," said Goyle. "Well you're not getting any more of my blood!" Trudy snapped. "Oh we will," said Goyle with a sinister smile, "We took it before and we'll take it again. Anyway, we have a plan B. There are other ways to get your blood." "What do you mean?" I asked. Goyle leaned forward and gave us all a menacing stare. "Trudy's blood is in her baby and WE have her baby." Goyle then ended the communication and the screen disappeared. A tense and rather distressing silence lingered as I suddenly had a terrible thought. Everyone could see the anguish on my face. "Luke, what is it?" asked Caroline. My body was suddenly covered in goose bumps. "Luke, talk to me what is it?" asked a firm Caroline. "That button's never going to get pressed," I said, sounding dazed and shocked, "We are going to be kept in here and you lot are never going to remember the truth. He knows that if he pushed that button, you'll remember everything and he doesn't want you to remember everything. He's just told you he's got your son and you don't give a toss." "Luke, we don't know who this kid is," exclaimed Trudy, "It's just a name to us. A story." "And that's why the button's never going to be pushed," I exclaimed in desperation, "If you remember your son, if you remember everything you'll be keen to get out of here." "We're all keen to get out of here Luke," said Naomi. "No," I snapped, "If you remembered, it'd be different. If you remembered. You'd really want to get out of here." I turned and looked at Mia. "That b*stard of a father of yours is experimenting on TJ and Trudy's kid and if he's experimenting on Primark, then he could be experimenting on Leo. Christ, we've all got to get out of here." I started running around the edge of the room, frantically checking the walls and urgently looking for anything that might appear as if it was some sort of hidden door. Naomi and Caroline tried to calm me down. "GET OFF ME!" I yelled, "JUST GET OFF ME!" I stormed off and sat on my own in the corner of the room where I huddled up on one of the single beds worrying sick about Leo and feeling sorry for myself.
Later in the afternoon, once I'd calmed down, I had a chat with Lindon. I say 'chat', it was more of a heated confrontation. I don't know why I bothered. He can't remember what really happened. I guess I was feeling angry about what happened with Goyle and I needed some way of getting my anger out. "So is this where you've been all this time?" I asked him, "Shacked up with ACROBAT?" "I don't know what you mean?" said Lindon. "You left Little Nob after shooting Tara," I firmly said. "I shot Tara?" said Lindon. "Yes," I firmly said, "And you shot and killed Naomi's husband – just because you wanted us to stay together." "Well, I don't remember any of that," said Lindon. "Hmm," I said, "I suppose it'd be best for you if everyone's memories didn't come back. God help you if Naomi and Tara remembered what you did and got hold of you. Mind you, I don't think the others would be very happy at how you stopped us from leaving Little Nob." "I don't know what you're talking about," said Lindon. "ACROBAT have clearly been looking after you whilst you've been away from us," I firmly said, "You've been working for them haven't you?" "I don't know what you mean," said Lindon.
"How's Peter?" I bluntly asked. "Who's Peter?" asked Lindon. I shook my head in dismay and walked off leaving Lindon on his own. The more I think about it the more I think he's been working for ACROBAT. Maybe that's why they know so much about us. Mind you, he wasn't around when we found out about Trudy being immune. Oh I don't know. I just know he's been up to something. If everyone's memories are ever restored we might get to the bottom of things.
Some of the others tried talking to me later in the day but I didn't want to talk. I can't stop thinking about Auntie Meryl and Leo and until this lot get their proper memories back I might as well be in a room full of strangers. I really hope Leo and Auntie Meryl are OK. I've got to get out of this room. Being cooped up in here with this lot is driving me mad.
