Day 697
Tuesday 24th July 2018

I'm stuck inside a disabled toilet with TJ, Parrissa and Mia. I am NOT in a good mood!

All the drama kicked off early in the afternoon when Mike's voice came through on the walkie talkie. I was sat in the staff area feeling very tired and rather down. Parrissa was sat next to me. It felt like she was doing everything she could to annoy me. Half way through some pointless drivel that she was spouting she looked up and widened her eyes. It was like she was possessed. "What's up?" I asked in a half interested tone. "I can hear a voice," said Parrissa. "Well I can't say I'm surprised," I bluntly said.

"I can hear it now," said Parrissa, with a weird look on her face, "It's talking to me." "Is it?" I said, sounding completely disinterested. "Luke," said Parrissa, "It's saying 'Luke.'  The voice is talking to me. 'Luke are you there?' I think a spirit from the other side might be trying to communicate with you."  I frowned with confusion, leaned forward and carefully listened. "Luke, are you there?" a muffled voice asked, "Is anyone there?" It was Mike. He was coming though on the walkie talkie. I jumped to my feet, turned round and looked over at the table where the walkie talkie was. "It's not a spirit from the other side you d*ckhead," I snapped at Parrissa, "It's Mike on the radio." "I was on the radio once," said Parrissa, "I was phoning Radio FAB FM and requesting 'Dr. Jones' by 'Aqua.'" Parrissa then started singing the song. "Oh shut up," I firmly said. I walked over to the staff room door, walked out on to the landing and called down to the others. "It's Mike!" I loudly said, "He's on the radio!" Everyone quickly made their way to the staff area as I grabbed the walkie talkie and started talking to Mike. "Mike," I said, "It's Luke. Are you alright?" "Yeah I'm fine," said Mike, talking over the walkie talkie, "It's good to hear your voice." "Where are you?" I asked, "Is Tara with you?" "Yeah she's here with me," said Mike, "Don't worry, we're both OK." "Where are you?" I asked. "We're at a zoo," said Mike. "A zoo!?" I exclaimed. "Typical," said Auntie Meryl, "We're all here filling our incontinence bags with worry and Mad Max has gone to the bl**dy zoo." "How the Hell did you end up in a zoo?" I asked. Trudy scratched the walkie talkie off me. "Mike it's Trudy," she said, "Have you and Lois Lane been kidnapped?" "No," said Mike, "They didn't know we were in the back." "Who didn't know you were in the back?" asked Trudy. "The others," said Mike, "We're with another group of survivors. We're all here at the zoo." "Well why haven't they brought you back?" asked Trudy. "They want to save fuel," said Mike, "They were pretty p*ssed off when they found me and Tara in the back of the truck." "Well why have you left it until now to radio through?" asked Trudy. "I forgot I had the walkie talkie," said Mike, "You should have seen the look on my face when I found it in my inside pocket." "You f*cking bell end," snapped Trudy, "We've been sh*tting through the eye of a needle with worry here." I snatched the walkie talkie off Trudy. "Are you both OK?" asked Mike, "Has anyone hurt you?" "We're fine," said Mike, "Are you going to come and get us?" "Where's Tara?" I asked, "Let me speak to her." "She's with Thomas over at the elephant house," said Mike. "Who's Thomas?" I asked. "He used to work here at the zoo," said Mike, "Are you coming to get us or what?" "We don't know where you are," I said. "It's a zoo called Parkside Zoo." "Oh I used to go there when I was a little girl," said Parrissa, "One time I fell into the bear pit. My Dad said he was going to leave me there forever.  Obviously he didn't. That would be outrageous. I was only in there over the weekend. He picked me up first thing Monday morning." "So do you know how to get to this zoo?" I asked Parrissa, "Could you direct us from here?" Parrissa smiled and nodded. "Right," I assertively said, "Mike. We're on our way. Hold tight."

I plonked the walkie talkie down on the table, looked at everyone and took charge. "Right," I assertively said, "Parrissa, you're giving me directions. Mia, grab some weapons and supplies. Auntie Meryl, I need you to look after Leo. Naomi, I don't care what you say, I'm taking the Nissan." "Luke, hang on a minute," said Naomi, "Do you really think this is a good idea?" "What do you mean?" I asked. "Driving out to this zoo," said Naomi, pointing to Parrissa, "Using THIS as a satnav." "I know that satnav stands for Satellite navigation," said Parrisa. "I'll go with them," said Mia, "No one will mess with us when they see the size of my clunge." "I'll go too," said TJ, "I'm Mike's brother, and Nanna will probably screw things up." "Look, I just think this is dangerous," said Naomi. "What do you care?" I asked, "I didn't think you gave a toss about any of us?" "Shut up Luke and use your brain," said Naomi, "We're down here to stay out of the way of ACROBAT. They've still got drones out there looking for us. Driving around to some zoo isn't exactly doing a good job of staying out of their way, is it?" "So are you saying we should just leave Mike and Tara?" I snapped. "I'm saying you should put your son first," said Naomi. "What?" I angrily snapped, "Are you saying that by driving out there and bringing Tara and Mike back means I don't care about my son!?" "No, that's not what I said," said Naomi. "F*ck you," I snapped, "Like I'm going to take parenting advice from you!" Naomi looked shocked and angry but I didn't care. I walked past her, grabbed the car keys and started getting ready to leave.
