Day 728
Friday 24th August 2018

The mystery and confusion continues today.

I had a really weird dream last night. I don't remember most of it but it all felt very vivid and very real. I guess I'm going to have some freaky dreams what with all the strange sh*t going on around here.

When I woke up in the spare room I picked up my phoned and checked my messages. I had a strange feeling as I did this. It's exactly what I used to do before the apocalypse. Strange how old behaviours come back so quickly and easily. I noticed I'd received a few text messages; One from TJ, saying 'You OK boss? Caroline says you're not right?' Boss!? I thought to myself. I had no idea why he was calling me boss. I texted him back and simply asked what was going on. He replied back saying he didn't know what I was going on about and that he was on his way over to check on me. I also saw that I received a messages from Mia, Tara, Richard and Parrissa, saying that Caroline had been in touch with them and that they wanted to know if I was OK.  I didn't respond as I noticed a text from Naomi. It simply said, 'Need to talk. Meet me outside the town hall at 12.' I responded simply saying 'OK.'  I still can't believe I have a functioning working mobile phone. God knows how ACROBAT have orchestrated this whole scenario. They've clearly gone to a lot of trouble but the big question is why.

I got out of bed, got dressed, took a shower (which was lovely), brushed my teeth and walked down stairs. It felt a bit weird making myself at home in this house but at the same time it feels like I've been living here ages - even though I know I haven't.   As I entered the kitchen Kyle was listening to music and reading a magazine whilst Caroline was stood at the sink washing up doing the best she could to avoid eye contact with me. Kyle removed his headphones. "Oh God are you two going to start again?" Kyle said, "I think I'll turn my music up." "Kyle get to school," said a firm Caroline. "It's the summer holidays," Kyle said dryly. "Then go to your room," Caroline said with an even firmer tone. "God," said Kyle as he started to make his way upstairs, "I don't know why you're sending me to my room. I'll be able to hear everything once you start shouting at each other anyway." Kyle left, leaving me alone with an angry and upset Caroline. "Well what have you got to say for yourself?" she firmly said, looking at me directly in the eyes with a cross expression and her arms crossed. I walked over to Caroline and put my hands on her shoulders. "Caroline, please," I said with desperation, "You've got to try and remember. None of this is real. It can't be." "Luke, of course it's real," said Caroline, "Look at me, just look around you. How can you think it's not real? You just banged your head and ended up getting confused." "I'm not confused," I bluntly said, "The day before yesterday we were all in a big truck going to get the kids and now, all of a sudden I'm here." "Luke, these kids you're talking about don't exist," said Caroline, "You're stressed. You've been working too hard. You don't know what you're saying. You just need to relax. Come here." Caroline leaned in to kiss me and I quickly jumped back in shock. "Whoa, what are you doing!?" I loudly exclaimed. "Kissing my husband," exclaimed a shocked and confused Caroline, "For God's sake what's wrong with you? The other day we were having the best sex we've ever had and now you're being like this." "I can still hear you!" Kyle loudly shouted from his bedroom, "And that's something I don't really want to hear!" I took a step forward and gave Caroline a serious stare. "Look," I said, "I'm not having a go at you. This isn't your fault. ACROBAT have clearly done something to your memory." "For Christ's sake!" Caroline loudly snapped, "No one has done anything to my memory. You're the one that's forgotten we're married." "We're not married," I firmly said, "I'm sorry but we're not." Caroline pointed to the ring on her finger. "Then what's that?" she bluntly said. "I've told you," I said, "It's a ring your girlfriend Roz gave you when she proposed." Caroline shook her head in dismay. "I'm taking you back to see that psychiatrist," she firmly said, as she started rifling through her handbag, "I've got his number in here somewhere. He said we needed to make a follow up appointment anyway." I snatched Caroline's handbag off her and gave her a firm stare. "It's not a psychiatrist I need," I firmly said, "I need to find someone who's memories haven't been f*cked with." The only person whose memories have been f*cked with are yours," exclaimed Caroline, "Luke you're not well. You need help. You said some pretty hurtful things yesterday. It was bad enough when you thought there'd been some sort of zombie apocalypse but to say we were divorced and THEN to mention HER name." "Whose name?" I asked. "You know whose name," said Caroline, "Naomi's. She's caused enough problems between us. I won't have her causing any more." "What are you on about?" I said. "Oh, you've forgotten about that too have you?" said Caroline, "How convenient." "I don't know what you're talking about," I said.
