Day 665
Friday 22nd June 2018

Still no Richard and it's caused nothing but upset today.

Trudy's been shouting and screaming like a woman possessed. "I have to do something!" she screamed, "I'm sick to f*cking death of hanging around here and doing nothing!" "There's nothing we can do," said Tara, "Absolutely nothing. We either sit here and wait or cut our losses and all go to The Base." "Cut our losses!?" exclaimed an outraged Trudy, "We're talking about my kids!" "OK," said Tara, "Bad choice of words, but we can't stay here like this forever." "Oh you can f*ck off," snapped Trudy, "You're more bothered about getting to The Base to be with your precious boyfriend." "Of course I am," exclaimed Tara, "He's my boyfriend for God's sake. What's wrong with that?" "And Primark and Aldi are my kids!" Trudy loudly snapped, "I am NOT leaving here until we've done everything we can to get them back." "Tara, if you want to go to The Base to see your boyfriend why don't you just go and we'll meet you there. Draw us a map like you said you would." "Yeah, you could walk back to the compound, take one of the cars and drive to The Base from there," said Esther. Tara squirmed slightly. "What is it?" asked Mike. "Leaving you to face Richard alone feels wrong," said Tara, "I feel like I should be here." "Well make your frigging mind up," snapped Trudy, "You either want to go to The Base or you want to stay here. You can't be in two places at once." "I don't know what to do for the best," said Tara, "I want to be with Rob but I want to stay with you guys, especially after being under ground for so long. Plus, it's not exactly a walk in the park being out there on your own." "And after all the sh*t Richard put you through I thought you'd be first in line to finish him off," said Trudy. "I am," said Tara, "But not if it means I have to wait ages to get to The Base and see Rob. God, I wish that Richard had never come into our lives." "Why doesn't Tara go to The Base, tell people about the situation and then come back with some sort of reinforcements?" asked Parrissa. Silence fell. This sounded like a good idea and I was a) surprised it had taken this long for it to be suggested and b) that it had come from dippy Parrissa. "The scarecrow who hasn't got a brain and only straw has actually come up with a good idea," said TJ. "That IS a good idea," I said. "I'm not just a pretty face you know," said Parrissa with a cheery tone. Tara could see that we were all looking at her with expectant looks. "I don't know about this," said an unconvinced Tara, "If I get from here to The Base in one piece – which might not happen, people from The Base might not want to leave a safe sanctuary to come out into this scary world. Plus, whilst I'm out there, Richard could come back." "So," said an arsey Trudy, "We don't need you here to deal with that piece of sh*te. Anyway, you were going to hide with Mike." "I think that if you go to The Base, not only will you be able to come back here with help," said Esther, "But you'll be reunited with your boyfriend too." "This is a great idea," I said, "I can't believe it's taken us this long to come up with this." "I think you'll find I came up with the super idea," said Parrissa. I noticed Tara looking uncomfortable. "What's wrong?" I said, "I thought you were really keen to get to The Base." "I am," said Tara, "But . . ." "But what?" I asked. Tara lowered her head and looked a bit embarrassed. "What is it?" asked Esther. "OK," said Tara, "This isn't comfortable for me to say but I don't want to be out there on my own. When I met you I was with Kyran Ryan, David Brayshaw, Donald Hero and I had a double decker bus. Kyran and David are dead. Donald turned out to be a massive liar who created this bl**dy virus and my bus has gone. After all that and after what happened with Janine and Richard, and being locked underground for so long I don't want to be on my own. I'm sorry if that sounds like I'm a wimp but I just don't want to be on my own. I mean come on; do any of us want to be on our own?" There was a short pause. I felt sorry for Tara. She seemed a bit vulnerable. "Yeah I suppose none of us really want to be on our own do we?" I said. "I want us all to get to The Base," said Tara, "But more importantly I want us all to stick together." "What a load of soppy b*llocks," said Trudy. "It's not a load of soppy b*llocks," I said, "I can see where Tara's coming from. I've been out there on my own. It's not nice." "Not nice?" exclaimed a confused and annoyed Trudy, "Not nice. It's the end of the world of course it's not nice you big wet f*nnny. We've all been out there on or own. I was stuck with Lindon, that weird corpse shagger." "Lindon?" said Parrissa, "That's the big place down south with that clock and that palace place." "That's London, d*ckhead," I said. "All I want to do is get my kids back," said Trudy. "Trudy, that's what we all want," I said, "I want to meet my son, but I can see where Tara's coming from." "You've met your son before," said Parrissa. "Yes, but I didn't know he was my son then," I said. "Well I wish you'd all make you bl**dy minds up," said Auntie Meryl, "One minute we're going; one minute we're staying. You're up and down like Dolly Parton's knickers."

I don't know what we're going to do. I've got a horrible feeling that we'll just end up hanging around until Richard shows up with the kids but the reality is that he might not come back . . .
