Day 742
Friday 7th September 2018

I'm a bit freaked out at the minute.

The Feemh Oak Chronicle came through the door today. I found the article Tara did about me and Mrs Higginsworth. I was reading the article, glancing at the photo and smiling to myself, as I read phrases printed by Tara such as 'local hero' and 'Feemk Oak's very own superman'. Thinking that Tara was laying it on a bit thick I suddenly noticed something in the photo. I walked into the kitchen, placed the newspaper on the dining table, walked over to one of the kitchen drawers, opened it, picked up the magnifying glass and returned to the dining table. Using the magnifying glass I inspected the photo that accompanied the article more closely and saw something REALLY weird. In the background of the picture was the hooded women in black who I dreamed about the other night. The EXACT same woman. I widened my eyes and gasped as my arms and neck became covered in goose bumps. "What the f*ck?" I exclaimed.

At that moment, Caroline came home. She came in through the front door and walked into the kitchen. "Hi babes," she said, as she gave me a kiss on the cheek, "Oooh, what's up with your face? You look like you've seen a ghost." "Just look at this," I said, ushering Caroline towards the dining table and pointing at the newspaper. "Oh yeah," said Caroline, "I forgot about this. Hmm, it's a good picture. You look quite handsome. I can see why Mrs Higginsworth has got a smile on her face." "No, but look," I said, pointing at the mysterious woman lurking in the background. "What?" said Caroline, sounding confused, "It's some woman." "Yeah," I emphasized, "In the background. . . Remember? That note that someone posted through the door; 'LOOK IN THE BACKGROUND.'" "Oh Luke, come on," said Caroline, "There was always going to be someone in the background of a photo like this." "Yes, but THAT woman," I said, "I dreamt about her the other night. It's EXACTLY, and I mean EXACTLY the same woman." "Hang on," said Caroline, "What are you talking about? What dream? What woman?" "I had this dream that I was locked in room and this woman came in and tried to talk to me. She was wearing black and had this big hood that covered most of her face. It's THAT woman; it's EXACTLY the same woman." "Babes, calm down," said Caroline, "It's just coincidence. How can you dream about some woman one minute and then see her magically appearing in the background of a photo that you're in. She probably just looks the same." "Caroline, it's her," I said in a firm and insistent tone, "I'm telling you, it's the same woman – and we got that note – 'LOOK IN THE BACKGROUND'. She's in the background of this photo, she wants me to look in the background. It's like she wants my attention. Maybe that's why she sent me the note." "Sweetheart, just calm down," said Caroline, "You're being silly. How can a woman you're dreaming about, who doesn't exist, send you a note and then appear in the newspaper? It's not possible. You can't dream about someone and then make them appear." "Well someone sent me that note," I said. "How do you know it was meant for you?" asked Caroline, "It might have been meant for me." "Oh come on," I said, "It's obvious it's for me; especially after this." "Especially after what?" exclaimed Caroline, "We've had a note from some silly kids – that might not have even been meant for us; there's a woman in the background of a photo you're in, and you've had a dream about a woman who looks a bit like her. That's it. Why are you being like this?" I gave a depressing sigh and Caroline gave me a hug. "Babes," she said, "You just need to relax. Have you had any more dreams about this woman?" "No, just that one," I said, "I had another dream last night where I was still stuck in the same room but I was on my own." "They're just dreams," said Caroline, "They don't mean anything. Look, you've been really busy recently and you haven't given yourself a break. Why don't I run you a bath?"

I had a bath and I'm going to go to bed soon and get an early night. I feel a bit embarrassed that I started spouting out all those crazy thoughts but at the same time it was pretty freaky seeing a woman in the paper, who's the spitting image of the woman who was in my dream. That, coupled with the note I got, I guess my imagination went into overdrive. Anyway, bedtime soon. Tomorrow is another day . . .
