Day 712
Wednesday 8th August 2018

My mind has been racing all day! I've got so many unanswered questions and a confrontation with Roz left me feeling even more dazed and confused.

The drama started when a few of us were in the staffing area talking about what Kyle said yesterday. I was understandably very intrigued. "Oh chill out Nanna," said TJ, "The little kid's a wind up merchant. He's having you on." "TJ's probably right," said Trudy, "I reckon he said all that sh*t just to shock you so you'd let your guard down so he could get away." "That kid's weird anyway," said TJ, "He's always on his own. Little pansy." "He wasn't a pansy when he kneed me in the kn*ckers," said Mike, "I've not been kicked that hard in the b*llocks since Lucy May thought I'd put her Cabbage Patch Doll in the school microwave." "Did you?" asked Mia. "No," said Mike, "It was her Tiny Tears Doll. I hated that snivelling little plastic f*cker." "Right, why don't we just go and knock on the entrance to the bunker?" said Naomi, "We know where it is and whoever answers we can tell them that we refuse to move until they tell us who they've got down there." "What?" said TJ, "You going to do some sort of a protest? They'll just tell you to f*ck off and mind your own business. Let's face it, whoever they've got down there, it's nothing to do with any of us." "It's something to do with me!" I loudly said, "Have you forgotten what Kyle said to me yesterday." "Alright Nanna, don't get your period," said TJ, "I've already told you the kid was just winding you up so he could get away. I still can't believe you all ganged up on some little kid." "He's an adolescent," said Naomi, "Hardly a little kid." "A teenage boy," said TJ, "I'm surprised they haven't stormed in here and had a right go at you." "That's a point," I said, "Do we really want to go knocking on their door after what we did to Kyle." "Relax," said Naomi, "It's not like we hurt him. If anyone came out of the situation injured it's poor Mike's b*llocks." "And I don't think Kyle will tell anyone," said Tara, "He knows we've got dirt on him." "Yeah but why did he get told to stay away from me?" I said with urgency, "Why me? I mean what has he been told about me? Whoever this person is down there, they might know me." "Oh will you shut the f*ck up," said TJ, "Moan, moan, f*cking moan. Me, me, me, me me. Just shut up. How many time do I have to tell you? The little squirt was winding you up." "You DON'T know that," I snapped. "Well either do something about it or shut up f*cking moaning," said TJ. "Right then," I assertively said as I leapt into action, "I WILL do something about." Feeling a sense of misplaced confidence and with very little foresight, I stood up and stormed out of the room and headed towards the entrance to the bunker. Some of the others quickly followed.

Fuelled with adrenaline and feeling pumped with determination I walked out of the staffing area, exited the visitor's centre and stormed over to the bunker entrance. I stood in front of the large great steel door and paused for a moment as I took a deep breath. TJ, Naomi and some of the others gathered behind me. This was all entertainment to TJ. "Go on then Nanna," said TJ, "You haven't come all this way to stare at a door. Give 'em a knock you big t*t." "F*ck off," I said, "I'll do it in my own good time." "F*cks sake," said Trudy. She walked up to the door and started kicking it hard and loud. "Oi, what do you think you're doing?" I snapped. "We haven't walked out here to watch you looking at a door like some goggle-eyed retard," snapped Trudy, "Let's get this show on the road." "Show?" I said, feeling annoyed "This isn't some sort of spectator sport. I'm trying to sort this out." "Well you're not going to get to the bottom of anything standing here like a gormless tw*t are you?" "Look this is none of your business," I firmly said, "The lot of you just p*ss of and leave me to it." "And miss the entertainment," giggled TJ, "No way." "And I think you need some back up," said Trudy, "No offence but you're cr*p at stuff like this. I mean, it needs a good negotiator and no offence, but you're sh*t. This needs someone who will take charge and get to the bottom of things and no offence but that's not you. You'll probably end up falling naked into a pile of horse sh*t. We all know how useless you can be. No offence." "You can say no offence as much as you want, but it doesn't not make it offensive," I said. "Why aren't they answering?" asked Mike. Naomi pointed to a small camera at the top of the door frame pointing down at us and also to the small peep hole in the middle of the door. "Look," said Naomi, "I think they're watching us." The big steel door suddenly started to open. "Here we go," said TJ, "Show time." "I'll deal with this Nanna," said Trudy, "We need a clear, no nonsense approach with tact and diplomacy." The big heavy door opened to reveal Roz looking very unimpressed. Trudy stepped forward with a no nonsense look on her face. "Right then you big lezza, who you got hidden down there?" she snapped. I rolled my eyes. "Very tactful and diplomatic," I said, "I mean that was pretty cr*p. No offence." "What do you all want?" Roz bluntly asked, "I thought I'd told you all to stay away from us. How did you find out this was the entrance to the bunker?" "Well DER," said TJ, "We're not blind. It's a big f*ck off metal door." "And we followed you," said Mia. "What do you want?" Roz bluntly said. "Well I'm up for watching you and Alison lezz off with each other if you're up for it," said TJ. "We want to know who you've got down there," said Mike. "You know who's down here," said Roz, "Me, Kyle, Alison, Kevin, Thomas and Richard." "Don't play games Roz," said a firm Naomi, "Who else is down there.  Who's this other person?" "None of your business," said a blunt Roz. "Well we're making it our business," said a confrontational Mike. "Can we come in and have a look at this bunker of yours?" asked Tara. "No," said a blunt Roz, "You've got your section of the zoo and we've got ours. That was the agreement." "Sorry, but I don't remember agreeing to anything," said Naomi. "Look, just tell us who this person is," snapped Trudy, "We know they're down there." "Of course she's down here," said Roz, "Where else would she be." "Oh, so it's a SHE?" said Trudy, "That brings us one step closer to solving the mystery of the unknown stranger "Well strangers do tend to be unknown," said Roz. "Yeah chill out Poirot," said TJ to Trudy, "We knew it was a SHE yesterday." "How do you know it's a SHE?" asked Roz. Silence fell as we all looked guilty, remembering how we accosted Kyle. "Look Roz, why don't you just tell us who she is," said Tara. "Because frankly it's none of your business," said a firm Roz, "You don't know her anyway." "Yeah but do I know her?" I snapped with urgency. "You?" said Roz, looking confused but also slightly shifty, "Why would you know her?" "We saw Kyle yesterday, so we pinned him down and forced him to speak and tried to make him tell us who this person is and that's when he said they'd made him promise not to say anything and that he was told to avoid me – ME and that I was trouble and he should keep out of my way. MY WAY." Silence fell and Tara and Naomi gave me a firm and unimpressed look. Roz also looked displeased. "You assaulted a fourteen year old boy?" said Roz. "Well technically speaking he's fourteen and half," I said. "He's a child," said a blunt Roz, "You pinned him down, those were your exact words. My God, what the Hell is wrong with you?" "OK," said Naomi, "Maybe we went a bit far bit you're hiding something from us and we want to know what." "YOU were involved in this?" Roz snapped at Naomi, "I should have known. You just love throwing your weight around even with a teenage boy." "Roz, listen," said a firm Naomi. "No, you listen," snapped an angry Roz, "You lot climb into the back our truck, try and steal from us, force your way in here, insult us, abuse us, offend us and now you're harassing us. We had it good here until you lot turned up. Just leave us alone." "We didn't force you out," snapped Naomi, "You left when we refused to go. That's different." "You stay in your section and we'll stay in ours," said Roz, "If you keep this behaviour up we'll fix the generators so we have power and you have none." "So?" said Trudy, "We'll just turn it back on." "Sorry Roz, but that threat's not going to work," said Tara, "I've checked out the generators and I'm familiar with the workings. We all have power or none of us have power." Roz squirmed and looked uncomfortable as if she had been rumbled. "We don't want any trouble," I said, "Really, we don't. Just tell us WHO this person is. What have they got to do with me? Do they know me?" Roz squirmed even more. It looked like she didn't know what to say. I thought she was about to crack when all of a sudden her uncertain expression was replaced with one of stern determination. "Get lost," Roz bluntly said, "Go away and leave us ALL, and I mean ALL OF US – alone." "Don't make us get nasty sweetheart," said Mike, "There's more of us than there is of you." "Don't call me sweetheart," snapped Roz, "I don't put up with sexist remarks like that." "After all the sh*t TJ has said to you and you have a go at Mike for calling you sweetheart?" exclaimed Trudy. "Look Roz," said a firm Naomi, "We don't want any trouble but if you don't let us in and see who this mysterious person is we will force out way in." Silence fell and the atmosphere became tense. Roz and Naomi were once again squaring up to each together. "You're not coming in," said a firm Roz, and with that final remark she quickly slammed the door shut and locked it. Naomi ran up to the door and started slamming it hard. "Roz, this is stupid!" Naomi loudly snapped, "You've got to come out at some point!" Naomi turned and looked at us all. "Right," she said, "We need to take it in turns to keep watch." "Oh not all that sh*t again," said Trudy. "On watch?" said TJ, "Day and night?" "That's right," said Naomi. "It's pretty clear that whoever they've got down there they don't want us to see them," said Tara. "Yeah, and it's something to do with me," I said, "Did you see the look on Roz's face?" "Yeah, they're definitely hiding something," said Mike. "I couldn't give a toss if they're hiding the Dalai Lama down there," said TJ, "I'm not losing sleep because of all this sh*t." "Lama?" said Mia, "That's a type of sheep isn't it? Why would they have sheep down there?" "Oh shut up," I snapped at Mia, "Look, I want to get to the bottom of this. I want to know who this person is they've got down there." "Well you can p*ss about trying to figure it out," said TJ, "I'm not losing any sleep cos some random arsehole doesn't want to see you." "Me neither," said Trudy, "I've got a kid to look after. Whoever is most bothered by all this sh*t can sacrifice their sleep." "Me, Luke, Tara and Mike can't do it all on our own," said Naomi. "Not my problem," said Trudy, "We've got food, water and a roof over our head. I want to know who this f*ckr is down there, but it seems to me that it's more Luke's problem than anyone else's." "It could be all of our problem," said Naomi. "You don't know that," said Trudy. "Yeah," said TJ, "Could-a, would-a, should-a." "They're avoiding us," said Trudy, "As far as I can see we don't have that much of a problem." Trudy shrugged and walked off and TJ followed. "Maybe she's got a point," said Mia, "If we can stay out of each other's way, maybe there's nothing to worry about." Mia left leaving me, Tara, Naomi and Mike to discuss the situation. "Now what do we do?" I said. "They can't stay down there forever," said Naomi, "They might have SOME food and water but there can't be enough supplies down there to sustain them for too long. If we can't set up a twenty-four hour watch we just need to keep our eye out. If we see one of them we could grab them and hold them hostage and refuse to give them back unless they let us down into the bunker and show us this mysterious person." "That's a plan," said Tara. "Sounds good to me," said Mike. "Hang on," I said, "Do we really need to talk about taking people hostage?" "Have you got any other ideas?" asked Naomi. "Nothing else has worked has it?" said Tara. "I think they're right babes," said Mike, "They're being pretty drastic trying to hide this person so I think we need to be drastic too." "OK," said Naomi, "So if we see one of that lot out and about, we grab them, take them hostage and go from there." I squirmed a bit. I feel very uncomfortable about the idea. "OK," I reluctantly said, "But let's try talking to them first and if that doesn't work, THEN we consider our options."

So it looks like we're going to be keeping our eye out for the zoo survivors and the second we see one of them we might be taking them hostage. I'm really keen to find out who the mysterious person in the bunker with the other zoo survivors is but I'm not convinced that taking one of them hostage is the best idea. I actually think it might make things worse and if we end up holding Roz hostage I think it will be a million times worse. Let's hope that whoever we collar, we can talk to and try to get to the bottom of things.

I felt like we were being a tad hypocritical accusing Roz of hiding something when we were all hiding how ACROBAT are after us, but I wasn't thinking about that at the time. It's something I spoke to Naomi about in the evening. I was sat holding Leo and Naomi was sat holding Sophie. "Look at us," I said, "Both in charge of babies. I didn't see this coming when we met two years ago in that clinic." "God," said Naomi, "You're right that was nearly two years ago. We've been through a lot since then." "We have indeed," I said, "There's so many unanswered questions in my head. Who is this person in the bunker? Why are we so important to ACROAT?" "Well I have no idea who this mysterious person in the bunker is," said Naomi, "But it's obviously someone who doesn't want to see you. Maybe someone who's scared of you." "Not many people are scared of me," I said. "And as for the whole ACROBAT thing," said Naomi, "I think it's all about Mia." "Mia?" I said. "Yeah," said Naomi, "Her Dad created the virus that caused this entire outbreak and we've been with Mia right from the start." "You don't think Mia's hiding something do you?" I said. "No," said Naomi, "But I think if we'd have never met Mia, ACROBAT wouldn't be so interested in us. Let's be honest, we're all pretty unremarkable. Or at least we were. Nothing particularly special about us; until we met the daughter of the creator of a virus that destroyed the world and turns people into cannibalistic monsters."

Now that Naomi's said it, I think she's got a point. We're all just a bunch of ordinary people but Mia is the daughter of the man who created the virus that turned everyone into infected, and we're her friends (kind of). Maybe that IS why we are so important to ACROBAT; then again, if that's the case, why haven't they just told us that. I don't know! One problem at a time I guess and the problem I have now is trying to find out who this b*tch in the bunker is who clearly knows me and has told Kyle and the others to stay away from me . . .
