Day 723
Sunday 19th August 2018What a chaotic day. I ended up going out of the zoo but it was not my choice. After the drama I've just been through I'm just glad to be back here in one piece, although I now feel REALLY rough and I'm worried about the apologies I need to make tomorrow.
The day started with me and Mike walking around the zoo talking about all the recent goings on. Mike seemed a bit sulky and lightly irritated. "It was bad enough when you found out Leo was your son," he said, "But now you know that Kyle's your kid, there's going to be no room for me is there?" "Oh Mike, not all this again," I said, rolling my eyes, "Look, I can have two sons and still have you as my mate. You need to stop this. There's enough drama around here without you adding to it." "I just don't like that Kyle," said Mike, "I think he's going to try and take you off me." "Mike, he's not even talking to me," I said, "After everything that's happened he's hardly my biggest fan is he? Anyway, how can you say you don't like him? You hardly know him." "He kicked me in the balls," said Mike. "Mike, he's a fourteen year old child," I said, "We all did things we regret when we were his age." "I didn't," said a firm Mike, "If he kicks me in the balls again like that I'll kick his head off his shoulders." "Mike, stop it," I firmly said, "We all need to be trying to get along, not threatening to decapitate people." "See," said Mike, "You're already sticking up for him and taking his side over mine." "Oh for God's sake," I said, "It's not about taking sides, it's about sticking together. After yesterday's meeting and everyone finding out we've been covering up about ACROBAT, we're lucky to all still be here. Don't you go doing anything that might get us kicked out." "Wouldn't want to get in the way of you and your other secret son bonding, would I?" said Mike in a childish tone. I turned to Mike and gave him a serious look. He was starting to p*ss me off. "Right that's it, I'm getting p*ssed off now," I firmly said, "I didn't ask to be put in this situation, but it is what it is. Yes, I want to get to know my son, of course I do, but I need your support. I don't need your childish comments, b*tchy remarks and petty jealously." "He doesn't like me," exclaimed Mike, sounding like a stroppy child. "He's fourteen years old, Mike," I said, "He's angry at everyone. If I found out my Mum had been lying to me about who my real Dad was, I think I'd be a bit narked too. Anyway, we weren't exactly gentle with him were we? We pinned him down and put pressure on him. What kid wouldn't try and kick us in the b*llocks?" "You're doing it again," said Mike, "Making excuses for him and taking his side. A few days ago you were saying that he was a little sh*t." "He is a little sh*t," I exclaimed, "But whether we like it or not he's still my son and at some point I'd like to have some sort of a relationship with him. Now are you going to give me grief or support about it, because I know which one I'd prefer." Mike lowered his head and looked a bit sad. It was like I had given him a good telling off. Mike then looked up and over my shoulder. "Talk of the devil," he said. I turned round to see Kyle stomping across the path, carrying his ruck sack with him as if he was in a mood. "Right," I said, "I'm not waiting any longer. I don't care what Caroline says. I'm going to talk to him now."
I walked off in Kyle's direction with Mike behind me. "Kyle!" I loudly shouted to him, "I want to talk to you." Kyle turned round, gave me a sarcastic smile, stuck his middle finger up at me and then started running off. Feeling annoyed I rolled my eyes. "Christ, the little sod," I snapped. I started running after Kyle and Mike followed. We ran all the way to the back of the zoo where we found Kyle behind the old shed next to the hole that he'd previously used to leave the zoo. Kyle started trying to remove the metal sheet that we'd used to block up the hole. "Kyle, come on," I said, "What are you doing?" Kyle ignored me and continued trying to wrench the metal sheet out of the hole. "Are you just going to ignore me?" I said. Kyle continued trying to remove the large piece of metal and continued ignoring. "Oi, you little weirdo, he's talking to you," snapped Mike. It was clearly a struggle and he cut himself in the process but Kyle eventually managed to remove the metal sheeting and unblock the hole. "Look you've hurt yourself now," I said, "Why don't we go somewhere and sit down. We can have a chat and get that cut seen to." Ignoring me Kyle grabbed his skateboard and rucksack. "This little sh*t is starting to get right on my nerves," said Mike. "Kyle, where are you going?" I asked, "Don't even think about leaving, your Mum will hit the roof." Ignoring me Kyle squeezed through the hole and left the zoo. "Great," I said, rolling my eyes, "Now what do we do?" "Leave him," said Mike, "You never know; an infected might get hold of him." "Mike, knock it off," I snapped, "I can't just leave him, he's my son." I got down on my knees and squeezed through the hole, attempting to try and catch up with Kyle.
