"You gotta be shitting me!" Bobby shouted at the room.

He stared at the crawling pregnant zombie in horror. He wanted to say something else, but nothing came out of his mouth.

Instead, he started pacing.

His hand brushed the clammy sweat in his forehead then combed his hair back. "I don't need this kind of problem right now!" He shouted angrily again at the empty corridor.

The crawling mother zombie was his only witness and hissed back at him, all the while still trying to reach him.

NO! This is not my problem, Bobby thought grimly. The thing inside that zombie could not possibly be human. It is almost six days since the fucking apocalypse started, meaning the mother is a zombie for the last week already. Whatever sustained the baby inside could not possibly be human biology, and therefore it is supernatural. The baby, if you want to call it that, means is feeding on some other sort of energy.

Mana.

Meaning the baby is part of the game. Part of the system. The same system that brought to humanity this fuckup world with zombies.

It's not human.

I have to kill it.

Bobby grimly pulled out a battle ax out of his inventory. He stepped closer to the zombie, and when it tried to reach for his foot, Bobby coldly stepped on its hand to keep it in place then started chopping off its limbs. When both arms are gone, Bobby pushed the zombie over to its back and proceeded to chop both legs as well.

At the back of Bobby's mind, he marveled at the fact that he can do such task without flinching now like it's just another chore, unpleasant but necessary.

Like freaking laundry.

Bobby kneeled to the blood-soaked floor, he replaced his battle-ax with a combat knife and started searching for the eye. He accidentally put his hands in the female zombie's tummy, and he felt the baby kick.

Bobby hesitated, the moving eye is forgotten for the moment. It's alive, it's truly alive! Bobby thought.

So what?

"It is part of the system! Just another monster who is trying to be born into our world. We and the rest of the world had enough of that! The same monsters roaming our cities, our streets, and our very home! Eating us for the sake of eating us! No! Kill the damn thing and be done with it!"

But Bobby didn't move. He knew that talking to himself made him look like a fucking lunatic, but he didn't care. He needed to hear what he was thinking, and so he said it aloud so he can dissect it in the light of day. "But it's a life... I killed the other pregnant zombies, and the life-force of their babies washed over me. They are not malevolent, or evil or decay, it was just simple raw energy. Life energy. I won't... no, I can't kill it," He said to himself.
