Everyone gasped at the simple wrongness of tying up a child but everyone also hesitated to voice their protest since the leader had declared this child evil. So everyone grimly, and shamefully kept quiet.

Everyone except for Marylou.

She instantly recognized Buu, the child in their upstairs neighbor, and she immediately denied the explanation that this young girl is evil.

She screamed her protest and immediately ran towards the platform, completely forgetting the fate of the last man who challenged the Kulasa leader. Bulky bodyguards stop her effort to climb the stairways and release the child immediately.

Ian stared at her with a frown. "If you are not important in our war effort against the filth, I would have killed you by now for your insolence, doctor. Even then, do not think your action will not get you any punishment. So hold yourself proper and-"

"Oh, shut the hell up!" Marylou screamed at him, and he was taken aback. Her eyes were blazing with cold fury, and her heart almost broke when the child looks at her, recognized her, and in those innocent eyes held the assured expectation to help her. Despite the burning anger, she showed this man, deep inside, she knew she doesn't have the strength actually to save Buu from the clutches of this deranged man. "Do you seriously believe that I will help you after you do that to an innocent child?!"

"Yes," the leader said, his eyes blazing with his own anger. "if you want to live, that is."

The doctor just stared at him, contempt openly etched on her face.

"Many of you cannot see it now, for you are the chosen people and thus immune to the taint, but there are ways to see evil, and I can guarantee you that the taint called mana is oozing from that child as we speak. The amount pouring out of her is tremendous that the miasma of the entire base is directly coming from her! Do not be deceived! that child in front of you is a monster!"

A giggle can be heard from the ensuing silence. Ian whirled around and realized that it was the chubby little girl who is laughing. Somehow, the sight of this demon laughing and not angry or scared irritates him the most, more than the open insubordination of his own people.

This fear and uncertainty leeching the spirits of his people wouldn't have happened if his army has not shattered during the battle in the HQ. How the hell did that happen? His men were well armed and prepared against the capability of the players, he knew they were strong, but he knew the limits of his enemies and his men should have overwhelmed the motherfuckers, especially since team 7 and team 3 were out of the picture.

"What's so funny?" He asked, his voice grating and dangerous.

"I also called my brother a monster once, and he got so angry his face became so red that it was like a big, big tomato!" Buu declared brightly. Marylou noticed at the back of her mind that the last time she saw the little girl, she can barely talk, but now she can make complete sentences.

Despite her natural instinct to help the little girl, Malou had to admit that the girl sometimes unsettled her.

"Laugh all you want, demon, but after we finished this cleansing ritual, your fun is the least of your concern. Be very scared spawn of evil, We will get rid of you, and then the shock of your disappearance will weaken the filth outside. I promise that by the end of this day, the Kulasa Brotherhood will still prevail!"

"I am not scared," The little chubby girl said, her annoying brown innocent eyes keeping that confidence that she is entirely right. "My guardian will save me. He promised, and I believe him. You'll see."

A loud thud rang in the platform about 8 feet to his right, Ian turned and noticed a Kukri embedded lightly in the wooden floor of the platform.

Ian turned wildly around to see where the weapon came from, so did the guards, but Marylou looked at the delighted face of the child looking up. Following the child, she did the same. There up in the sky, about 50 feet in the air is Bobby. He is floating like a god damn superhero, with murder in his eyes.

"Anyone who isn't part of this, leave. Leave now," Bobby said in a commanding voice echoing in the entire compound. Marylou believes that his voice was magically enhanced somehow.

"What are you all doing?!" he shouted at his nearest guards. "Shoot! Shoot the bastard!"

Only then did the weapons started raining down on them.
