Zöe:
The mortal stood staring at us, as we started retreating. I shared an annoyed looked with Damien, then I reached back and grabbed the mortal's arm. Tugging him out of the shop.
We started sprinting as soon as we'd left the coffee shop, trying to get as far away from it as possible.
The boy stumbled behind me, breathless and struggling, trying to keep up with me and Damien.
I peered over my shoulder at him, a small smile on my lips. "Come ON," I was about to say mortal, but then I stopped myself. It wasn't a nice way to refer to someone. So, "What is your name?" Is what I said instead.
"Danny." He replied, panting for breath.
"Well then," I grinned. "Come ON, Danny." He fidgeted a little in my grasp. And I didn't realise what was happening until my hand had slipped from his wrist and had fallen into his.
I was startled, and was about to pull back, but then we were outside, panting in the bitterly cold air.
Damien's eyes immediately zeroed in on our joint hands, and I dropped Danny's hand like a hot coal. Stepping away from him and going to stand beside Damien.
His cold expression softened slightly as I appeared by his side. And ignoring Danny completely, he turned to talk to me.
"When I was on that phone call with my mom, she was saying that the Pegasi were having some problems, and that they couldn't come to get us. We were supposed to get a lift of Percy, but I doubt he'll agree to take a mortal back to camp." Danny was asking questions, but we'd practically zoned him out. "And..." Damien continued, putting an arm around me as if to prove a point. "There's a river right there... You could take us pretty far... If you know what I'm saying?"
A small smirk made its way onto my lips. "Yes Damien, I know what you're saying." I smiled, turning towards the river.
