Zöe:
Damien strode over towards Danny in large quick steps. His face was a mask of fury, and his fists were balled up at his sides.
Me and Selena followed, but kept behind. I wasn't going to get involved in this. And neither was she. “What do you think you are doing?” Damien's voice was so low that I had to strain to hear what he was saying, he'd reached Danny now, and they were standing only inches apart.
“I'm coming with you.” Danny replied matter-of-factly. His hands we stuffed in his jean pockets in such a casual manner that it seemed to make Damien more mad.
Damien took one long, deep breath.
And then he exploded.
“YOU'RE COMING WITH US? YOU'RE COMING WITH US? Are you actually insane? Or are you just really dumb? You're a MORTAL Danny, with no training, no practise, nothing. You have no idea what it's like in our world, and you have no idea how dangerous this quest is. You're NOT coming.” Selena elbowed me in the ribs. Muttering something about me stopping this before one of them strangled the other.
But I only shook my head.
This wasn't my fight. Damien could handle this by himself. He didn't need me butting in.
But I was slightly on my toes, ready to dive in if one of them really did start attacking the other. Damien was my boyfriend. And Danny was my friend. I didn't want either getting hurt.
Danny was quickly losing his temper. “I know you don't like me, I know you hate me because I kissed Zöe.”
Damien laughed then. He actually laughed. “Danny. Get over yourself. That has nothing to do with it. Yeah, I was mad when you kissed Zöe. But we're over that, and I don't think you'll be trying to kiss my girlfriend again.” Danny recoiled at the word 'girlfriend' but Damien just kept going. “I like you Danny. It may not seem like it sometimes. But I think you're actually a nice guy. I'm not stopping you from coming because I'm mad at you. I'm stopping you from coming so that you don't kill yourself, or anyone else for that matter.”
Danny shook his head, his face suddenly very grim. “I have to come. You don't understand. I've been having these... Dreams.”
