Danny:
“I'm going to work now sweetie, your breakfast is on the table!”
I lay on my bed, staring up at the wall, and didn't bother to reply to my mom. I listened until my ears picked up the familiar sound of her keys jingling, and then she was shutting the door behind her as it closed with a click.
My brother was out last night and is staying at his friends, he probably won't be back until this evening. My dad was spending the weekend upstate due to his work. And now my mom was gone, and she wouldn't be back until tonight.
Now was my only chance.
I slipped out of bed and groggily made my way to the bathroom. Splashing cold water into my face to wake me up. I blinked, staring at myself in the mirror, and was surprised that instead of seeing the smooth, sarcastic, cocky guy that normally looked back at me- I was seeing a nervous, scared looking boy with anxious eyes.
I scowled at myself.
Get a grip.
I rushed back into my room and instead of spending time styling my hair and checking myself out in the mirror- I hastily threw on some jeans and a shirt, ran my hand through my hair, and grabbed the piece of paper that sat on my beside, before heading downstairs.
I stopped to catch my breath. And unravelled the paper that was scrunched up in my hands.

It was a weird number, I thought. But then again, nothing in my life has been normal this week.
So I shouldn't be surprised.
I hesitated for a moment. But then an image of Zöe's face flooded my vision, her sparkling green eyes, her sweet laugh, her beautiful dark hair, her small delicate frame- that contrasted with her fierce, strong personality.
It was the thought of her that made my grab the phone, and dial the number.
The ringing started, then I caught my breath as a click sounded and the phone was picked up. “Hello...?” The voice crackled down the line.
“Hi Clarisse.” I swallowed hard. “I'm going to take you up on your offer, can you pick me up as soon as possible?”
