Zöe:
Damien's mouth was firm on mine. Our kisses desperate and quick and hard and powerful. My hands were in his soft blonde hair, gathering fistfuls off it at a time. His arms were around my waist as he lifted me off the ground, he held on tight- as if he'd never let go.
We were in our own world, nothing else existed but the two of us. The kiss was perfect. Familiar and new at the same time, but totally amazing.
We stood in each others embrace for what felt like only minutes, but by the time we pulled apart, breathing hard and hearts hammering, it was already dark outside.
His arms remained around my waist as he lowered me to the ground, I let my hands slip down to his neck, where I left them- brushing against his warm skin.
I smiled against his mouth. “Wow.” I murmured, before feeling instantly very stupid.
But Damien was grinning back against my lips and his voice came out with a slight croak to it. “Wow, is certainly the word.” I wanted to stay with him forever, in our own little bubble. But I knew that we couldn't.
I forced myself to think straight; and the reality of what was happening in the world outside seemed to hit me like a ton of bricks.
“Bianca.” I muttered urgently. “Charlie...”
He took one hand away from my waist and ran his fingers through my hair. “I know. I know.” He whispered gently. “But it's late. Bianca will be asleep by now, and Charlie will be handled in the morning, with a great deal of thought and strategy.” He pressed his lips to my neck, and without warning his arm was under my knees and he was lifting me into the air. He held me gently. And then put his mouth to my ear.
“But for now you need to rest; go to sleep.” He reached my bed and fell back into it, so I was lying on top of him. My legs straddling his hips. I remembered another time, by the canoe lake, when our roles were in reversal- him sitting on my chest and pinning me down. Back before Annabeth becoming pregnant, back before Danny, back when we were best friends. Before any of this happened.
“Stay with me?” I whispered as he leaned in to kiss my cheek.
His eyes lit up. “Of course. I always will.”
