Zöe:

It came out of nowhere.

We were walking along the rocky woodland. The ground was covered in thick wet mud, causing us to slip and slide as we walked.

The trees hung overhead, and sometime during the night it had rained badly- causing the leaves to hang down, wet and heavy.

But the waterfall, well, no one had seen THAT coming.

It just so happened that it was Danny who was at the front, leading us- a good ten metres ahead. His head was turned back, as if he was about to speak. And then he disappeared.

Me and Damien shared a look of stunned silence, and then broke into a short sprint- towards the place where Danny had fallen.

The river was deep and rough. The water churned and rushed, flowing through the stream at a strong, quick pace. Sharp rocks and debris cluttered the surface- but it did nothing to slow Danny down, as he headed for the edge.

And the edge was a drop. Maybe fifty feet down, into the blackness of hidden water below.

Danny didn't even fight it. A strange look passed over his face, and then there was a blankness. An empty nothingness. He went limp.

I pulled my hand away from Damien's and went to dive into the water. But he grabbed me. “It's dangerous!” He shouted, over the roar of the current.

I gave him a sharp look. “Yeah; if only one of us was the daughter of the fricken sea god.” He seemed to get my point, as he let go of my arm. I turned. I would have to jump in, so I could connect properly with the energy in the water, it was too powerful to be controlled from the land.

And so, Damien watched with a worried look, as I plunged into the deadly river.
