Zöe:

The day after Selena's death, was harder than the day before, in some ways.

We'd lain Selena down in the cave the night before, wrapping her in Danny's jacket and using riptide to rip the stitches over the back of the fabric, drawing out a boar's head. The closest thing we could get to a burial shroud.

We all said our goodbyes, and then we left her, lying there. Her eyes were closed, her face peaceful. Like she was sleeping. But she wasn't sleeping.

Not at all.

And when we looked back the next day, she was gone. Ares must've took her body. Buried her in Olympus,  where she belongs. With the heroes.

After that we ate. Well, the boys ate. I couldn't stomach anything. And though the boys were grieving, it seemed that it was impossible for them to loose their appetite.

Then we walked. It seemed the best way to cope with the pain. To keep moving, keep travelling, keep making ground. It seemed that if we focused on the task at hand, it was easier to put the pain to one side, to keep strong. To stop ourselves from breaking down.

And we made good progress. Danny walked out in front, directing us with his head in the map. And Damien walked beside me, one of my hands loosely clasped his, and the other stayed in my pocket- gripping the pen that was riptide- just in case.

Everything was going fine. Few monsters attacked; but we handled them without much struggle.

We were okay. Sad and anxious. But okay.

Of course, that was until Danny fell into the waterfall....
