Danny:

Zöe collapsed as soon as we'd landed on solid ground. Damien was there before I could even blink, catching her, then kneeling on the ground and lying her over his lap.

I stood over them, and looking down at her face- even pale, shaky and muddy- she still looked beautiful.

As I watched Damien quietly comfort her, stroking her hair and whispering soft words- I remembered him threatening me, telling me that I couldn't ‘hit on’ Zöe. At the time I'd told myself to stay away, there was obviously something between them. But looking at her now, made me think that I would never be able to keep that promise.

I furrowed my brow and pushed the thought aside.

“Can all of ‘your kind’ do what Zöe just did?” I asked.

He gave me a wry look. “Our ‘kind’ is demigods, and no, only Zöe- because she's a daughter of Poseidon.” He replied.

I opened my mouth, and a wave of questions would've poured out if Zöe hadn't cut me off.

“We need to get going.” She sounded weak. “They'll be expecting us back soon.”

Damien looked at her with concern. “Are you all right to walk?” He looked doubtful.

“Sure.” She bluffed, letting him help her up.

She stumbled as soon as she tried to walk, her face turning a dark shade of green. “I'll carry you?” I offered, before Damien could, reaching out to Zöe.

Damien opened his mouth, appalled. But then something seemed to stop him.

“I guess you'll have to. I'm going to fly overhead and keep a look out for any monsters.” I scooped Zöe up, and was about to ask Damien how he planned on ‘flying overhead’, but then he was gone. Soaring through the air.

I shook my head, “This is so weird.” I muttered.

“Welcome to my world.” Zöe smiled weakly.

Her face was so close to mine that I could see the vibrant green of her eyes, the dotting of freckles around her nose, the extreme black of her hair.

She looked at me right in the eye, and for a heartbeat I thought she would kiss me.

But then she threw up all over my shirt.
