Danny:

By the time Zöe was done explaining. I wanted to scream. So many emotions were going through my mind.

I couldn't believe that my mom had hidden this from me. I couldn't believe it. “So,” I said as calmly as I could. “My mom has the soul of some thousand year old woman living in her body. She can predict the future. She's been to Camp Halfblood. And she never told me anything about it.”

Zöe looked at me with pity, her big green eyes were full of understanding. “Well, she hasn't got the spirit of the oracle inside of her anymore. She gave up the role a year after the war with Gaia. So she could be with your dad, I'm guessing. And we actually haven't had an oracle since.” She paused. “This is just what I've been told, I wasn't there, of course.” I shook my head in disbelief. As if my life recently hadn't been weird enough.

“But... You guys know what this means right?” Damien said slowly, his eyes cautious.

Selena shrugged. “That Danny was brought to us for a reason, by one of the gods. So that he could help us and possibly become the new oracle? And that the dreams he says he had are probably completely accurate? And that means he has to come with us because he'll probably play a major part in saving Charlie?” She shrugged again and smirked a little. “Well I guess this means we will be having a fourth passenger after all.” I reeled backwards, all of the words that she said buzzing in my ears.

I forced myself to think straight, and then held up my hand. “Hold up here. There's no way that I'm letting someone put the spirit of some dead woman into my body.”

Damien laughed, and slapped me on the back- a little too hard. “Don't worry buddy, I don't think you're the next oracle. For one thing, I'm pretty sure the oracle has to be a girl. And also, you don't have to be it if you don't wanna.” I nodded, relieved.

“Well then,” Zöe smiled, the only giveaway that she wasn't as calm and breezy as she sounded being the worry that was evident in her eyes. “We best get going. And hopefully we'll have no more interruptions.”
