Danny:

I watched on helplessly from my hiding place in the shrubs and roots of the forest floor, feeling like the biggest coward on earth.

I wanted to jump up, sprint out there, and join the fight. But I knew that that would possibly be my stupidest idea yet. Untrained, unarmed, and totally useless. I wouldn't exactly be the best of fighters.

Plus, Selena might slash at me before any of the enemy could- as punishment for disobeying her orders.

I watched her now, as she fought. Selena used her strength and build as an advantage, making sure that her strikes were powerful and forceful and effective- even if they didn't come in quick consession. Her jaw was set and her eyes steady as she went in for stab after stab, slash after slash. She didn't stop- she went on relentlessly. Tearing through the monsters.

My gaze turned to Zöe. Who fought in a very different way. Zöe was obviously a lot smaller and skinnier than Selena- but she still fought with just as much fire and fury and power. She used her speed to dart around, and her small build as an advantage- dodging and ducking and rolling. She was so quick that you could miss her if you blinked. And her skill was incredible, I couldn't help but be awed. I watched as she flipped through the air and landed in a crouch, not even hesitating before swiping riptide and taking down another cyclops.

I tore my gaze from her and turned to look at Damien. He fought with the strength and brutal force of a pro-wrestler- but held the poise and stance of a dancer. He was quick and swift and graceful- in a strange- manly sort of way.

They all moved together as a three, like one whole person. The army of monsters was quickly dwindling, the demigods were going to win.

The sky was darkening by the minute, I lay back against the hard mud-packed ground and stared up at the shining stars. Then suddenly, a cluster of stars seemed to flash and burn- leaving a constellation. It was a girl. Hair flowing behind her, stood in a fighting stance- bow and arrow drawn back as if ready to fire. I didn't know who the girl was. But for some reason, it made me smile- and I found myself being unable to look away.
