Zöe:

And then Selena was there.

It all happened so fast. One second Danny was standing, staring at the bullet that shot straight at him, and the next second Selena was darting in front of him- moving faster than what should've been humanly possible.

Time seemed to slow down, as everything around me faded away. I was aware of movement around me, people running away, blood dripping all over my face.

But all I really saw, was Selena.

And then I was running towards her, as she fell to the floor. And then Danny and Damien were kneeling by my sides, Danny crying. And then I was squeezing Selena, screaming and sobbing her name, begging her to stay with us.

The blood flooded from her chest, dampening my hands and arms in a red thick coating.

But all I saw was those big brown eyes, staring into my own. “Get some nectar!” I screamed. “Someone, anyone, GET SOME NECTAR!” No one moved.

Selena was shaking weakly. “No,” she whispered. “There's nothing that can save me.” I cried harder then, my whole body shaking with each racking sob.

I held Selena to my chest and whispered to her. Told her that I loved her. Told her she was a hero. Begged her to stay awake.

She grabbed my hand, and looked at me in the eyes. “You were one of the best friends I ever had.” I looked at her again. And then I saw images flashing behind my eyes. Me and Selena as nine year old girls, canoeing in the lake, sword fighting in the arena, her holding me as i cried for my mom. I saw her brothers. Her brothers.

“Selena,” I croaked, but I couldn't even get another word out, the tears wouldn't stop coming.

“Go,” she whispered. “Go, save Charlie. Get him back to Percy and Annabeth.” Her heart beat was fluttering. “Tell my mom, and my dad and my brothers that I love them.” Danny reached down and kissed her swiftly, it was the first thing he'd done since she was shot. He lingered above her, his whole body shaking, his face streamed with muck and tears

She turned to him. “Danny, I don't regret what I did. I guess I kind of love you. I'm sorry that I...” She croaked. Her whole body lurched forward as blood splattered from her mouth. Her lips went purple.

And then she was gone.
