Zöe:

My first thought?

Annabeth looked sick as a dog.

And that's putting it mildly.

Her skin was a light shade of purple, her eyes drooping with obvious bags underneath, her hair disheveled... She looked skinnier too, instead of being lean and slim she looked weak and frail.

I knew something was wrong before either of them had opened there mouths. “Zöe, we-” Annabeth started shakily. I rushed to her and engulfed her in a dramatic hug, holding her tight.

When I pulled away she was smiling, but even that looked weak. “What's wrong?” I whispered. “Are you ill?” I turned to Percy, who I realised belatedly didn't look good either. Not ill- but tired, worried, and a look of something I wasn't used to seeing on my big brother; he was scared.

“I'm not ill...” Annabeth started slowly. “I... I'm pregnant Zöe.” She paused, seeing the look on my face. “I know that sounds like a good thing, but it's not. When we had Bianca- Apollo and the demigod doctors told me not to have anymore kids- it would make me ill, strain my body to new extremes, and put me in serious danger.” She paused looking pained. “And we were SO careful... But somehow, I'm now pregnant... With twins.” Her eyes were welling up, and she reached out to take my hand- gripping it tight.

“But you're... You're gonna be okay, right?” I asked, I felt like a helpless child- scared and useless.

Percy got up out of his chair, and went to stand behind Annabeth, wrapping his arms around her.

“We...” He paused- choking up with tears. “We don't know Zöe. They recommended an abortion- though Annabeth won't do that.” He smiled weakly, tears were falling from all of our faces.

“But I shouldn't be worried. She's my wise-girl, nothing can stop her, and nothing can take her down.”
