Chapter 64~ Selena:
I woke with a start and immediately noticed two things.
1) Judging by the dark sky it was still night, or at least early morning.
2) I was still holding Danny's hand.
Despite myself, I smiled. I wasn't sure what exactly it was that was going on between me and Danny, but I liked it.
I started to move my hand away, but couldn't. I tugged harder, and almost screamed as something tugged back. I started panicking for some insane reason- but then I realised that Danny was awake, and that he was sitting up, smirking at me.
I sighed and lay back agains the damp cave wall. “So you're awake?” I said, not able to hide the grin.
“Yeah.” Danny replied, his voice still rough and husky with sleep. “Can I ask you something?” He added, taking back my hand and tracing his finger across my palm.
“Sure.” I said, straightening up in anticipation. “Well, I saw this constellation, this girl- with a bow. And, it just... Caught my eye for some reason. It seemed... Really special. Do you know...?” He trailed off.
I smiled, and drew my hand away. “Zoë. That's Zoë Nightshade.”
He frowned.“Like our Zöe?”
I nodded. “Our Zöe was named after her. The girl was a daughter of a Titan, a hunter of Artemis. She died a long time ago, struck down by her own father. She was a friend of Percy's, and he chose to name our Zöe, after Zoë Nightshade.”
He swallowed. “Is our Zöe like.. The other one.”
I shrugged. “I never met her. But I heard that Zoë Nightshade was brave and independent, strong and loyal, and kind and beautiful. So yeah. I guess that they would've been pretty similar.”
Danny was quiet for a moment, and then he said. “Are you named after anyone.”
I suddenly felt sad. “Yes. Selena Beauregard. She was my moms best friend. A daughter of Aphrodite. She died in the Titan War. And I don't think my mom ever recovered from it. She was kind and brave and beautiful, and she was a hero.”
Danny reached out, and brushed some hair away from my face, he was smiling. “Just like you then.”
