Zöe:

“ZÖE! Zöe please! Open the door Zöe, I've been out here for hours!” I sat with my back against the cabin door as it vibrated and shook with his pounding fists.

The tears had came again as soon as I'd ran out the room. I had lain in the corner of my cabin, curled up in a little ball, and sobbed and screamed until my throat was raw and my eyes were empty of tears.

Then I punched my walls until my hands were cut and bloody, dripping onto the wooden floor.

And then Damien had came. Pounding on my door and begging for forgiveness.

I could imagine him standing out there. His face wet with tears and his eyes bloodshot. I could imagine how bad he must feel. I could imagine him hounding himself for what he had done.

And for a moment my heart ached even more. I had to forgive him at some point. Damien is the most important person in my life. And this can't be the end, right?

But then I remembered how angry I was. How worthless and horrible he'd made me feel. The look of hatred that was written all of his face when he snarled at me.

I stood and flung open the door. He took a step back, startled. And then I flung myself at him. Punching his chest and screaming. Screaming that I hate him and he's a jerk and for him to get lost and get out of my life.

He let me pound him until I pulled away. And then I looked up at him, my eyes burning.

I took in his big, sad blue eyes. His soft blonde hair that fell messily- covering his eyes a little. His gentle and fragile, but strong and defined face. He was beautiful. He's always been beautiful. “What?” I demanded, my voice cracking. “What could you possibly have to say to me?” He caught at my wrists and held them, firm and gentle at the same time.

“Zöe.” He said quietly. “Zöe Christina Jackson. I only have six words to say to you. Then if you still want. I'll leave.” He spoke slowly, carefully, and waited until I nodded.

“Okay then. Say them.” I replied, as evenly as I could.

He took a deep breath. And then. “I am in love with you.”
