Zöe:

As it turned out, Danny's brother wasn't lying in a gutter somewhere downtown.

He came bounding through the front door only second after I had hung up the phone.

We'd told him a diluted version of the story, saying I had a little brother and he was lost in the woods.

He'd looked at us like we were crazy and insisted we tell the police. This is when I told him that my 'brother' did this a lot, and it was better not to stir up a fuss, since I'd be able to find him easily as long as I could get a lift to the woods where he'd be.

The story was obviously shady, and I don't think he quite believed us- but he gave into our pleading eventually.

And that's how me and Danny ended up sitting in the back of his brother Johnny's truck, driving along the twisty road that lead up to the woods of Camp Halfblood.

My nerves were on edge and I'd bitten my nails down to bloody stumps. It was all I could do not to just crack and breakdown completely.

So many questions swam through my head.

What had happened to Charlie?

How did he go missing?

Wasn't Damien looking after them?

Was Bianca okay?

We arrived at the bottom of the woods and after a muttering 'thank you' to Johnny, dived out of the van and started to treck through the woods and up the hill.

The camp loomed up ahead of us, which was invisible to Johnny's mortal eyes- as he watched us for a minute- before driving away.

Two bulky and broad, but definitely female figures, stood at the top of the hill- waiting for us.

As we got closer I realised the faces of Selena Rodriguez and her mother Clarisse.

My heart plummeted. Selena was sobbing, hurrying towards me as she balled her eyes out.

My veins felt like they were full of ice.

I'd known Selena since she was ten and I was nine. And in that time I'd never, ever, seen her cry.
