Damien:

I watched Zöe and Danny as they sat. Danny's eyes filled with the deepest kind of sadness and aggressive self-hatred. And Zöe, staring at Selena with wet eyes, her expression so broken and lonely that it made me want to cry.

I wanted to reach out and hug her and hold her, but I know Zöe, and I knew that right now- she just needed a minute to herself.

I forced myself to look at Selena, still and cold and bloody- lying limply on the floor. I couldn't believe she was gone. Selena, who had been a solid figure throughout my whole life at camp halfblood. Selena who had looked after me and Zöe. Had given me advice that had saved my relationship with Zöe. Selena, one of the bravest people I've ever met. Gone.

Her eyes, that had once been so intense and harsh and intimidating, were still open. But instead of their old light, they held an lifeless, empty look- and they were glazed over.

I reached down, and gently closed them and as I did so a stray tear fell from my eyes and onto her cheek.

We sat in silence for a moment.

And then Zöe stood, in a quick, fluent motion, and produced a dagger from her pocket. It was blood stained and bent, she must've picked it up during the battle.

She stood for a minute, contemplating. She glared at the boy who had killed Selena with a hatred to violent that it sent shivers down my spine. And her hand moved, so quick I nearly missed it, and the dagger was flying through the air in one piercing sweep. It caught at the fabric of his shirt, just millimetres over his shoulder blade, and it sent him back several metres- pinning him to the wall. He didn't even flinch, or move. Just let himself be trapped. His face was emotionless, he was in a complete state of shock.

Zöe moved silently over to him, travelling like a ghost- flowing through the air at a quick, unstoppable pace.

She stopped when she was stood only inches away from him. And she reached forward, into his pocket, and pulled out a gun.

And this time, she didn't hesitate, as she held the pistol to his head.
