Chapter Synopsis: As Ash and his friends spend the night in a Pokemon Center, Serena falls into a dream, but not an any dream, another one of Neptune's illusions where she finds herself presented with the opportunity to have any of her questions answered, including those about Ash
*Serena's POV
"They called me a madman" I heard someone say
I looked around me and I was standing on some large meteor like platform that floated in the ocean, but the weather was nice and I was quite conformable. I continued to search for the voice and I found Neptune was sitting down on a ledge in his red suit, staring at me
"Huh?" I asked
"Back on my home world, I was an outcast" Neptune said
"An outcast? Home world?" I then asked
"My home world is millions of light years away from Earth. The planet is simply called Deus. My race is a special bunch, we eliminated Pokemon in our early stages, but we experimented, and we quickly developed abilities. Those with the most powerful abilities formed into a council to rule above the rest, no. The galaxy.... and soon the universe. I understand fate because fate is a being much like me, much like you are" Neptune answered
"Oh, so that's how you have powers?" I asked curiously
"Correct. My true name is Parallax, on the council i dictated fear, an emotion that was necessary in order to keep our race at balance. But I disliked it, I wished for something more, not to put fear into people but to help others who were in need, not using fear. My world outcasted me, the God of Fear wanted to help others? Fate spared me..... sent me to this world. I see now that was a good choice, at least for me" Neptune explained
"Um, I don't want to sound mean, but why should I know this?" I asked
"When you awake you will not remember the specifics of our conversation. Only the conceptual understanding. I can answer any question you have" Neptune replied
"D-Does Ash see me as anything more then a friend?" I then asked in response to his offer
"Ash Ketchum, the dense but brilliant trainer. He is an interesting personality, so positive yet in the inside, so conflicted. Your smart Serena, theres another reason you haven't confessed your true feelings and thats because of fear, which I know all too well. Fear of rejection but also the fear of scaring away Ash. You do not understand his conflict, Ash doesn't understand it either. Very very smart Serena. You do not wish to reveal true feelings until you see that Ash is prepared to handle such news" Neptune answered
"Thats right. I know I told Ash he can talk to me whenever but throughout the past two months I know now that if he doesn't want to talk about something, he shouldn't have too" I replied
"It truly is simple calculus. The world you experience, the world we experience is an after image, I can feel it" Neptune vaguely said
"What do you mean?" I asked
"The term you humans would use..... parallel universe. The original course of events if I may say are somewhat similar on the surface" Neptune replied
"W-Were in some kind of parallel universe?" I then asked
"Correct. The original events has no school, but Ash has come to Kalos on his own in order to start a new journey. You traveled with him, Clemont and Bonnie. Theres your answer as to why out of everyone, those two were throw at you and Ash to accompany him during his gym battles. You see, in this original events you never told him your true feelings, and you never got the chance" Neptune explained
