(Mini) Chapter 40: Heartache

*Serena's POV

Before the next stage of my life begins, let me tell you what happened after the airport.....

Three months of summer passed and I hadn't heard from Ash, but I shrugged it off, I guess he was just too busy traveling to call me. Maybe he kissed me out of pity....

10th grade started and Ash still wasn't back but that was to be expected, a semester went by and it was time for Christmas. I loved the Christmas me and Ash and spent together, but he hadn't even dropped by for a visit on that special holiday

Then..... 10th grade finished and it was officially one year since I heard from or saw Ash, my heart ached and I was getting impatient. I tried every possible way of getting into contact with him but to no avail

11th grade began and still nothing, Ash still wasn't back for school. Christmas of 11th grade I beat Aria in the master class and I was now something called the "Kalos Queen to be". I wasn't old enough to become Kalos Queen apparently, I needed to finish school first, so Aria remained Kalos Queen until then

No congratulations from Ash at all, he didn't come to see the day I beat Aria or even give me a quick call. I was sure he didn't even see the performance anyways..... 

11th grade finished and the summer began. This was the summer when a lot of me and Ash's friends left to go back to their regions. Tierno, Trevor, Lana, Lillie, May, Drew and Kenny all left to return to their home regions and continue their dreams there

I was left with only Gary, Fiera, Jason, Shauna, Dawn, Sawyer, Clemont, Kiawe, Mallow and Aria whenever I need her. 

Then, on the first day of summer was when my heart officially broke. "Ash Ketchum crowned Champion of Kanto"

He wasn't in Galar? He was in Kanto!? And he didn't even drop by a pokemon center to explain whatever garbage reason there was for him not talking to me! My heart broke.... hard. Beyond repair... I didn't talk to anyone for days. I finally spoke up and talked to Dawn and Shauna who tried making things look positive by saying he might have a good excuse but I didn't care. We had a promise. He would check up on my every now and then and he would come back. He never did either of those

"Ash Ketchum". I absolutely despised that name or having to hear it whenever it was brought up. One time in the middle of 11th grade Shauna had asked me if I still remembered Ash

"Hey Serena?" 

"Yeah?"

"Do you remember Ash?"

"What?! Of course I do" I replied sounding offended she had asked something so dumb, and I got up and left the scene

And recently there was the time Gary was talking about Ash become the Champion, and it didn't end so well

"I can't believe Ash is the Champion of Kanto now, thats great" He said

"I didn't see it coming" Dawn replied

"What do you think Serena?" Shauna asked

"What do I think? Shut the (censor) up" I answered and I stormed out the scene

It had also been a while since I had a personal since I had a personal encounter with Neptune. I was still an everyday friend with Jason of course, but Neptune was like a split personality. The day I did see him again for the first time in 24 months was the day my heart broke

"I suppose you've gotten the news" He assumed

"Yeah I did" I gritted through my teeth, as if to warn him not to talk to me

"How you react is up to you. You could either choose to believe he has a reason or follow whatever theory is in your head"

"I need your (censor) wisdom" 

"You should take that to heart. I can see the future after all, theres a reason I told you what I just did"
