Chapter 42: How to Apologize

*Ash's POV

It had been an hour or so after Serena yelled at me, and luckily I was able to assemble three old friends of mine who were going to help me out

"Yeah I could see that happening, you should've called us first" Shauna said

"What do you mean?" I asked

"Well when she learned you became Champion of Kanto, I asked her how she felt and she told me (censor)" Shauna answered and I blinked at her

"I messed up" I groaned as I put my forehead onto the table

"I mean there a good enough reason... for the most part" Miette said

"There is a few loopholes but let's not overthink it" Gary added

"So what do I do?" I asked

"You just need a better apology" Gou answered

"Yeah.... like with a bouquet of flowers!" Bonnie suggested and the others nodded their heads

"Just don't worry too much about it" Shauna said

"It's Serena. She can't hate you. It's genetic" Clemont agreed

"If she can't hate me then what the hell was that all about?!" I snapped, but only Bonnie reacted to my outburst by putting on a scared look "Sorry"

"No we get it. What you just felt is similar to what she's feeling" Gary said

"She hates me and there's nothing I can do about it. The girl I love hates me" I replied quietly as I closed my eyes and leaned back

"Wait. Come again?" Gary asked

"You heard me. I love Serena" I answered casually and the others had shocked looks

"You should have told us this! This changes everything!" Gary exclaimed

"Absolutely" Shauna agreed with her boyfriend

"I didn't know you had feelings for her. I thought the dense Ash Ketchum never would" Miette finished

"Alright I got it" I sighed

"Anyways, I have a plan" Gary said and we huddled in

"Hey Grace. Good to see you again" I greeted

"Good to see you too, where have you been?" She then asked suspiciously with her eyebrow raised

I then explained everything that had happened in Galar in a nutshell for the third time that day to Grace and she seemed to completely understand to my relief

"I see. Serena came here pretty mad earlier, would you know something about that?"

"Yeah, Sorry about that. She didn't really react well to my coming back" I apologized

"You don't need to apologize Ash. Serena isn't that different, she's just feeling overwhelmed" Grace explained

"So can I see her then?" I asked

"If she lets you" She nodded her head in approval

Grace allowed me to enter and I walked up the familiar stairs and delivered a knock onto the girl of my dream's door

"What?!" Serena asked loudly, sounding extremely annoyed

"It's Ash" I said

"What the (censor) do you want?" She demanded to know
