Ash's POV

"So that's why Charizard has two Mega Evolutions?" Serena asked, looking at her phone

"Yeah it's kind of sad" I answered

When I was in Galar, I had to learn a lot of things concerning ancient Pokemon history. Not that my job involved Pokemon, just that education was a big part of it. Thus, I had to learn about the history of a lot of different things.

Right now, me and Serena were working on our science project. It was never one of my strengths, but when it came down to it, I knew how to make a project surrounding the mega evolutions of Charizard.

It's a long story, one I would rather save for another time. Me and Serena were just about done, I supplied her with information and she translated it into a higher level (English is something she excelled over me).

Right now, I was making sure that everything was completely good to go. Serena was reading some kind of message she had gotten on her phone. It must've been important because firstly, she had been reading for the past five minutes, and secondly, only a few people had her number now.

"So what's up?" I inquired, referring to her time on the phone

"They're setting up a party for performers" Serena said "And since I'll be Kalos Queen in a few months, I'm expected to go"

"You mean like the one we went to back then?"

"Yeah, the one you went to with Miette" Serena confirmed, now sounding a bit sad

I scoffed playfully. "Someone's jealous"

"I am not jealous" Serena denied

By this point, she had put her phone down and was looking at me with a glare that indicated she wasn't backing down. Over the years she had become pretty tough. She was no longer the shy and nervous Serena I use to know.

At heart, she was still the same though. I was surprised that I had only recently fell in love with her. I basically scolded myself at first for being so dense back then. Additionally, Gary only made things worse by listing every single moment he could remember about Serena crushing on me, and me not noticing.

Gary, Shauna and Dawn all claimed that we use to act like we were already a couple, to which me and Serena denied with blushes on our face. To be fair, we had done a few things like dancing, dates that I didn't even know happened (by that, I thought it was just us hanging out) and we almost kissed that one time until Bonnie interrupted.

Looking back at that moment, it was probably the first time I saw Serena in a truly romantic way.  Although the breaking of that momentum from Bonnie had somewhat injured it. It planted a deep fear that maybe Serena didn't want me.

But through all of that, it was over now. We were together (hopefully forever). At this point, it was going to take a lot being hurled at us to make us break up.

"Ash?" Serena called for me, and I turned to her "Will you be my date to the party?"

I laughed and she frowned. "You make it sound like I have a choice, of course"

She smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me in for a quick kiss before returning to her business.

On a side note, the world around us was evolving. I barely recognized it as the same about four years ago. The Pokemon population had gone down to about half due to the stopping in breeders. People were calling it the "Non-Pokemon Revolution".

Jobs were using less and less Pokemon and more and more humans and machines which were proving to be effective. Pokemon at this point were only tools for competitive battling and pets. It made me kind of sick but there was nothing I could do about it.

I tried doing my researched about it in Galar, but the only thing I could remember was that Jason informing us that due to Neptune's emergence, the world was shifting. It wouldn't even be hard to claim that in ten years, Pokemon might be gone all completely, if not less.

"Your jealous" I insisted, continuing our conversation from before

"And why would I be jealous of Miette?" Serena pointed out

I intelligent replied with a smirk on my face. "Because we both know you wanted to be in her place"

"Ok... but that doesn't mean I was jealous" Serena blushed

"You just defined jealousy" I argued

Serena sighed. "Ok ok. If it makes you feel better, I was jealous"

Sometimes all it took was a confession for a day to be made. Though, my day was always my made by the fact I had Serena. Jason had said we had "blazing love".

Basically, our love was like a heart that was on fire. We chose how the fire burnt, with heat or with compassion. During my first couple of days back, it was completely on fire, but now it hurt with the strength of love.

I know it sounds cheesy but it's the truth. Anyways, speaking of fires, the steers of Lumiose City were dangerous.

In this new world, Lumiose was a high for criminal activity. There was Neptune and Matt taking care of it, but it wasn't as effect as before. Apparently the two had a fight that resulted in some injuries, taking them both out for a while.

Serena had to convince me with everything in her to make sure I didn't go out and try and help. It felt like it was my duty, but my girlfriend had argued it was too dangerous.

Knowing how much I hard hurt her in the past two years, I agreed to let things play out. Although I wasn't too sure how long I could keep going.

We were approaching a world on fire, slowly falling into the darkness. Serena was my light.
