The number of times you had nearly fallen asleep during the meeting was uncountable. Your head bobbed about 37 times. You were dragged to a meeting, which Nick Fury would be dropping in on at some point. You felt someone kick your leg and your head turned, your dad was sitting in his chair with a stern look on his face.
'Stay awake' He mouthed to you. You nodded and turned back around.
"So as we-Director Fury," Maria was interrupted. You, Sam and your dad all turned around in your seats to look at who was following Fury.
"You're still having trouble getting the government to-"
"Clearly, no need to state the obvious" You muttered. Fury rolled his eye at your comment and stood up.
"Before I was rudely interrupted, you're clearly struggling and need all the help you can get, hence why I'm bringing Agent 13 in to help you," He informed you. You were enraged. You didn't need her help, you were all doing fine. Your hate for her stemmed from Steve, but you still didn't have a specific reason to hate the blonde. You just...didn't like her. "I presume that you've all met her before" He added. You merely nodded, your already dull mood dimming even more. You ignored whatever Fury had started droning on and on about, but no one was none the wiser to your ignorance. Your phone vibrated from your pocket, making your leg flinch. You ignored it, till it buzzed again, and again, and again.
"Sorry," You excused yourself and walked out of the room. You stood outside the door and clicked on the message. Notifications flooded your home screen, all having the same message.Unknown: Siberia 16

Y/N: ???
Unknown: Siberia 16
Y/N: Siberia 16, Y/N Barnes, don't you remember?
You thought back a few years, then it hit you. You froze in your spot, it couldn't be could it? Everyone filed out of the meeting room and you stuffed your phone back in your pocket, trying to look as little as suspicious as possible. Sharon walked by you and shot you a dirty look, which you kindly returned by flipping her off. Sam and Bucky walked out of the room and your dad nudged your shoulder.
"What's going on with you? You nearly fell asleep, I thought you were going to kill Sharon then and there, and then you walk out. What's up, Y/N?" Bucky asked you. You sighed, you were seriously debating not telling him. After all, it could be nothing, and you'd be diverting them from bigger problems for some kid just wanting to piss you off, and it was probably Flash.
"Nothing's wrong, I just don't feel well," You lied. "My head hurts like a bitch," You added on. Bucky nodded and Sam gave him a suspecting look. Both of them had the feeling that something bigger was annoying you. "Can we...go home now? If you two are done ogling each other that is," You walked away from both of them and out to the car. You sat in the car, scrolling through your phone and not paying attention to what was going on outside. Your attention peaked when a figure appeared outside of your window. You screamed, the figure had a purple mask on and all you could see were his eyes. You opened the door and knocked him backwards. You ran out of the car and headed back for the building where your dad and Sam were. Before you could get any further, the person grabbed you by the waist and lifted you into the air. "Help! Someone help me!" You screamed. You kicked the person's shin and they dropped you. You turned around quickly and pull their mask off, you felt paralyzed as you stared back at a ghost from your seemingly unshakeable past. You held the purple mask in your hands and you looked down. "You," You accused. He smirked and pushed you down, making sure that your head hit the floor and you were knocked out. He pryed the mask from your hands and slipped it back on.
–
"Help! Someone help me!" Bucky heard your screaming, and he and Sam made a beeline for the elevator but came to a halt when the sign read.
'Out of service, please use stairs'
"Oh come on," Sam groaned as himself and Bucky dashed straight for the stairs and ran down them. It was a good thing that they were only on the fifth floor, rather than right up the top. Both Sam and Bucky ran outside and saw you laying in a heap a few feet away from the car and the entrance of the building. Bucky ran straight towards you and pulled you onto his lap.
"Y/N? Y/N?! Wake up," He slapped your face lightly in an attempt to wake you up. You stayed unconscious and Bucky grimaced when he moved his hand away from the back of your head, and there was a small stain of blood on his hands. "Y/N!" He yelled. You groaned and your eyes clenched shut before they opened. "Oh my God, thank God you're okay," Bucky said in relief.
"Dad?" You sat up and rubbed your head.
"What happened to you?" Sam asks you. The memory of him standing at the passenger side window flashed in front of your eyes and you looked to both your father and friend.
"Zemo," You told them. They both looked at you as if you had grown three heads and a tail.
"Y/N, are you having those nightmares again?" Bucky asked you. You shook your head.
"No, he was like physically here-"
"Kid, Zemo's gone. You don't have to worry about him anymore," Sam told you. You shook your head, why wouldn't they believe you?"But-"
"Okay, let's go. We'll go get a few stitches on this cut on your head," Bucky said. You frowned, they were treating you like you were a child. You felt stupid, like you were an idiot.
--
You were quiet on the drive back to your house, which was a concern for Bucky. Yes, you were quiet, Bucky had put it down to what happened to you during your time in HYDRA, the times when they would beat and shock you into submission, and there were things that he would never wish upon his worst enemy. When you were this quiet, that was when Bucky would get really worried. If you were this quiet, it would make him even more concerned. You would often fidget with your hands and blink your eyes rapidly.
"Y/N, what actually happened?" He asked you. You looked up at him and sighed.
"I told you what happened," You replied. Bucky pulled up to a red light and he turned back to look at you.
"Y/N-"
"Why don't you b-believe me?" You questioned him. Bucky shook his head and started driving again."We don't lie, to each other Y/N," He said. That one stung, but you were annoyed, he still didn't believe you.
"How do you think this happened? You think I just fell over and boom, I'd use him as my cover up story?" You argued.
"Then why would he come to S.H.I.E.L.D, why not be an asshole about it and send us a bunch of cryptic messages?" He asked. Your face turned a deep shade of red as you averted your gaze to the floor. "Y/N,"
"It was him sending me the messages during the meeting," You admitted. Bucky chuckled dryly and shook his head. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you, okay?" You said.
"Y/N, we have to talk about these things. If something like this happens again, we have to get down on it." He explained. You nodded and leaned your head against the window.
–
Bucky finished stitching up the back of your head and he patted your back.
"You good," He asked, "You hit it harder than I thought you did, but you'll survive," Bucky said. You laughed and sighed.
"Unfortunately for us, I guess" You joked. You yawned and rubbed your eyes. "I'm gonna go to my room, hit the hay for a few hours" You told him. Bucky nodded and saluted to you as you walked up the stairs to your room. Bucky threw his head back and groaned, running his hand down his face. His phone vibrated and he picked it up from the table in front of him.
