Stumbling to your feet, you felt blood begin to stick your hair together and dry to your forehead. Rubble fell from you as the reality of the situation set in. This could be it, you could die. But there was no other way you would have wanted to go, a heroes' death they would say. The golden, sparking circles looked like nothing but a hallucination due to your concussion. You thought you died when Shuri and T'Challa came through a portal. Shaking your head did nothing to get rid of the supposed illusions you were faced with. Sighing in defeat, you sat down. You were dead. There was no other way, even Sam had made his way to your hallucination. A boot gently kicked your bruised side and a wince left your lips. Oh, you weren't dead. Steve gave you his hand and he pulled you onto your feet.
"What's going on?" Your hoarse voice asked Steve. Steve sighed and looked at you.
"I think we did it, I think we won," Steve said. You couldn't help the smile that graced your face. As more of the portals opened, you couldn't help the adrenaline begin to pump through your veins. As everyone started to assemble, you still couldn't see your dad. You don't even know if he died in the snap, that thought scared you. Shaking off that feeling, you didn't need any distractions. This was it, this was the big one. The one that you had been preparing yourself for years for. Steve held his hand out.
"Avengers," Thor's hammer, Mjolnir flew into his hand. Silence. "Assemble," Thor cried out and everyone began charging. Your injured self struggled to keep up, but lucky you, you could teleport to catch up with everyone. You found that you were really on top of your game. You took down outriders front, right and centre. But someone was struggling, they dropped their gun and was ambushed. It felt wrong to leave the person. You whistled and got their attention. A sharp piece of metal came into your hand.
"Hey!" The outriders turned and then charged at you, you didn't really anticipate how many of them there was. "Oh shit," You murmured. The metal crushed them as you swung at them with as much force as you could muster. Shoving the metal into one, you huffed as you saw it was the last one in your area. Hair fell in front of your face as you sighed, looking up. Freezing, you realized who you had just saved.
"Y/N?"
"D-Dad?" You stuttered. Your legs moved before you could think, and you ran towards him. Bucky stood up and smiled as you jumped into his arms. He took in your appearance, you looked a little older than what you did all those five years ago, but not much.
"Look at you, my little girl out being a superhero," He smiled. "The quickest five years ever then, huh?" He joked.
"Wasn't it like, ten minutes for you?" You asked him.
"Okay, haha," You smirked and then sighed. "I know you wanna stay like this, but we have more...pressing matters,"
--
"Y/N?" Bucky knocked on your door gently, just in case you were sleeping. The soft snores confirmed his thoughts and he opened the door quietly. He sighed when he saw you slumped over your desk and your headphones blaring Palaye Royale. Bucky nudged your shoulder and you whined. "Y/N, come on. Lay in your bed and sleep there," He said.
"No," You complained. He sighed and pulled your chair out. "Dad," You dragged out. Bucky picked you up from your chair and moved you over to your bed. "Dad?"
"Yes, Y/N?" He asked.
"I'm sorry, I love you, dad." You said sleepily. Bucky smiled as moved from your bedside to your laptop. He furrowed his eyebrows when he further inspected the word document staring back at him.
Mission; Glory
In case of emergency, refer to plan B and act upon framing Y/N Barnes, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson. Agent Carter will confirm that the three were involved in the death of Steven Rogers.
Bucky let out a shaky breath and he shut your laptop. He took it as he walked out of your room and downstairs. He set the laptop on the table as he called Sam.
"Barnes," He picked up. Bucky sighed.
"Hey Sam, we have a bit of a problem," Bucky told him.
"What kind of problem?" Sam asked. Bucky was hesitant, but knew the longer he held off the worse it would get.
"The Zemo, kind of problem," Bucky sighed.
--
"Vanya, speak up dear," Zemo said. You knew for a fact that that was not your name. Nor the fact that this man was your father. A part of you believed that he was, but the greater majority of you didn't.
"I-I'm here to s-see what happens at an evaluation. He-He's my dad..." You said quietly. Zemo flashed a smile at the man at the reception of the building.
"You look a little young, don't you?" He asked. Zemo laughed.
"She gets that a lot, I can't believe myself that she's 16!" He cheered. The man fell for his act and you frowned. "Well, thank you," Zemo says. He takes a grip on your wrist and gently drags you away to a room. The room held a glass incubator with someone in it. "Vanya, this is Mr. Barnes," You walked forward and your head started pounding when memories of and with the man flooded your head.
"Make-Make it stop!" You cried. Bucky became more alert at the sound of your voice.
"Y/N?!" His voice was calm, yet he sounded like he was urgent for something, for confirmation that you were okay. Bucky looked up at Zemo. "What did you do to her?!" He asked. Zemo chuckled and put his hand on your shoulder. You flinched away and stood up.
"Get-Get away from me!" You yelled. Zemo frowned and tutted at you.
"Now now, Vanya, that is no way to talk to your father," He frowned. Bucky pulled on his restraints.
"You're not her father, I am!" He yelled. Zemo pushed you down to the floor and gripped your hair. "Y/N, don't trust him," Bucky said. You had decided. Twisting around, you knocked Zemo off of you and onto the floor. You kicked and punched at the panel of the cell that your dad was in. Before you could get any further, Zemo picked up a red book. You froze and turned to look at him.
--
A scream made both Sam and Bucky shoot up from their positions at the laptop.
"Y/N?" Bucky called as he ran up the stairs to your room. He and Sam ran into your room and both were ambushed by a hiding Sharon.
"Surprise," She said. Both of them moved their eyes up to you, who had a knife held at your throat by Zemo, who was standing behind you.
"Sharon?" Bucky and Sam asked simultaneously. Sharon smirked as she held her gun up to both Sam and Bucky.
"Hey," She said, almost mockingly. Bucky and Sam growled.
"Unexpected, I presume." Zemo chimed. "You didn't really think that I would leave a valuable USB laying around for any teenager to pick up, did you?" Zemo asked.
"Well, she did beat your ass when she was like 13 so-" Bucky cut Sam off by stomping on his toe.
"You were fooled, by both me and agent Carter. Now, Y/N, you are going to get me and agent Carter out of here, or we kill your father and Sam. You are going to get us into the S.H.I.E.L.D building,"
"No, Y/N," Bucky pleaded. You looked over and saw the pleading look in both his and Sam's eyes. "You can't. You won't." He added on. You sighed as tears filled your eyes.
"Dad, I got you hurt once, I'm not gonna do it again. And if it means that I get hurt or k-killed, to keep both of you safe. Then so be it, the world needs Falcon and The Winter Soldier." Your decision was made. "I love you dad, I'm sorry," Sharon walked over as you finished speaking.
"Y/N, you don't have to do-"
"Yes, I do!" You cried. Both Zemo and Sharon held onto either side of your shoulders and you focused on getting all three of you to the S.H.I.E.L.D Building. "I'm sorry,"
