Carlo's POV

"Rise and shine, bro!" Paulo's voice thundered through my door like an alarm clock on steroids, his knuckles pounding relentlessly. "Bumangon ka na d'yan, Carlo!"

Ano na naman ba kasing trip ng taong 'to? Can't he see it's too early for his kind of energy?

"Shut up!" I yelled back, my voice muffled by my pillow. I hoped my irritation would be enough to make him leave, but instead, I heard his annoying chuckle echoing through the door.

But no. Suddenly, my door creaked open, and in strolled Paulo, wearing that signature grin of his.

"What the heck are you doing here?!" I barked, my voice tinged with both shock and annoyance. He didn't even flinch-typical Paulo. He just shrugged, as if it was the most normal thing in the world to barge into someone's room uninvited.

I looked him over and noticed he was already dressed in a full basketball getup-jersey, shorts, sneakers. He even had a towel draped over his shoulder. What's he so pumped about this early in the day?

"Let's go," he announced with a grin, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Gising na, tara na, bro!"

I furrowed my brows, confused. "Let's go? Go where?" I asked, still feeling the weight of sleep tugging at my eyelids.

"Basketball tayo," he replied, the excitement in his voice unmistakable. "It's a nice day for a game. Sobrang tamad mo na, kailangan mong mag-exercise!"

I sighed heavily. "No way. I'm going back to sleep," I muttered, turning away from him and pulling the blanket over my head.

Paulo exclaimed, as if that was a valid reason for me to care. "You can't sleep all day. You need to get up and move around. Kaya wala kang kagana-gana dahil puro ka tulog diyan sa kwarto mo."

"I don't care," I grumbled, hoping he'd get the message. I was dead set on staying in bed.

"Anong 'I don't care'? Come on, Carlo, magbanat-banat ka naman ng katawan," he insisted, his tone somewhere between a tease and a lecture. "Hindi puwedeng laging tulog. It's not healthy, you know?"

"If you don't leave me alone, ikaw ang babanatan ko," I snapped back, burying myself deeper under the covers. I knew Paulo well enough to realize he wouldn't give up so easily.

"Don't hurt me, bro," he replied, faking a fearful tone while putting his hands up in mock surrender, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Masamang manakit ng kapwa."

"Tch." I rolled my eyes, not that he could see it. I tried to ignore him, thinking he'd get bored and leave.

But then, without warning, he shouted, "Gising na, sleepy-head!" and before I could react, I felt a cold shock spread all over me.

"What is wrong with you?!" I shouted, jumping out of bed, now drenched and shivering. Paulo stood there holding an empty dipper, looking way too pleased with himself.

"Wala namang mali sa'kin, bro. Gising ka na, so tara na, basketball tayo," he said, still grinning like an idiot.

"What?!" I glared at him, trying to shake off the water dripping from my hair.
